Clive Owen, Mia Wasikowska Offered Roles in Spike Lee’s OLDBOY
Clive Owen and Mia Wasikowska were reportedly offered the two remaining leading roles in Oldboy, following passes from both Colin Firth and Rooney Mara who were first approached to take on the same roles.
Offer to play the antagonist have gone out to Christian Bale, firstly.

I’m confused. Why would anyone normal refuse to accept an offer to play a role in Spike Lee‘s upcoming remake of Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy?

Colin Firth Offered Villain Role in Spike Lee’s OLDBOY
Oscar-winner Colin Firth has been offered the villainous role of a wealthy businessman who has a strange history with the lead character in the Spike Lee remake of Oldboy, one of the greatest crime thriller that won the Grand Prize Jury Award at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.
Both Christian Bale and Rooney Mara have been the likely candidate of the psycho-thriller adaptation, but have since gone off to star in new untitled Terrence Malick project.
Spike Lee to Direct Oldboy Remake?
Oldboy remake is definitely coming. Just in case you were worried about the whole thing, we’re here to bring some great news, because according to the latest reports, Spike Lee is now in charge for the remake!
At least, he’s currently in talks to direct it, but what the hell, when someone’s in talks then he’s most probably the next helmer! And we’re happy to hear that!
As you probably remember, Mandate Pictures is behind this project, while I Am Legend writer Mark Protosevich is responsible for the script.
Once upon a time, guys from Mandate were looking at Steven Spielberg, Matthew Vaughn and Danny Boyle to take the director’s chair, but now, thanks to Twitch, we learned that Spike Lee is the new possibility.
SXSW 2009 Film Festival Lineup Announced
The South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival is thrilled to announce the complete lineup for this year’s Festival, March 13 – 21, 2009 in Austin, Texas. Over the course of nine days, 108 features will screen at the festival, with 54 of those having their world premieres at SXSW 2009.
Film Conference and Festival Producer Janet Pierson said:
