Columbia Pictures has revealed the new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, a complete re-imagining of the Spider-Man film univese, which goes back to the origins of Spider-Man as he uncovers a secret about his parents and, for the first time in a film, does battle with The Lizard.

The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man

There is some key ‘untold’ aspect of young Peter Parker’s coming-of-age story – which was unseen in previous live-action Spidey pics, but will be discovered in director Marc Webb’s remake of the Marvel Comics superhero franchise.

The earlier released plot synopsis suggests that the ‘untold story’ being discussed involves Pete’s efforts to discover the truth behind his parents’ disappearance when he was at the age of six. Besides, Spider-Man producer Avi Arad confirmed as much during the Japanese press tour, while also teasing the relationship between Richard Parker (Campbell Scott) and the film’s central baddie, The Lizard, a.k.a. Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans).

New Spider-Man Movie Titled ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ And New Suit Picture Released!

Columbia Pictures reportedly said Monday the title next Spider-Man movie will be The Amazing Spider-Man! And will open July 3. The studio simultaneously released a photo of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, the first shot of Garfield in the famous full mask and suit.

As you know ‘The Amazing Spider-Man” is the name of the original comic book, and this story will take viewers back to Peter Parker‘s early days as the web-loving hero. It was initiated with a March 1963 cover-date and continuously published by Marvel Comics until it was relaunched with a new numbering order in 1999.

The Social Network co-star Andrew Garfield will play Piter Parker/Spidey, the titular web-slinger in the reboot of the film franchise. Emma Stone will play Gwen Stacey, his high school girlfriend, before he dated the iconic Mary Jane. The film will also star Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.

Entertainment Tonight recently visited the set of the upcoming Thor movie in Santa Fe, New Mexico and has debuted a behind the scene video and interviews with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and director Kenneth Branagh.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful young scientist, Jane Foster (Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth..

Dr Pepper and Stan Lee Salute Iron Man 2 in New Campaign

In support of a partnership between Dr Pepper and Marvel Studios, Stan Lee, the celebrated comic book creator, will appear in a new advertising campaign saluting Iron Man 2.

In the spot, Lee makes a cameo as a Stark Industries custodian dusting a collection of Iron Man suits in Tony Stark’s home lab. JARVIS, Tony Stark’s personal Artificial Intelligence computer program, plays a trick on Lee’s co-worker who is mopping the floor. Expecting JARVIS to suit him up as Iron Man, Lee’s co-worker is surprised to find himself inside a hi-tech Dr Pepper vending machine. The spot can now be seen nationwide.

Joe Johnston to Direct Captain America

Joe Johnston has signed on to direct Marvel Studios‘ “First Avenger: Captain America.”

Johnston is currently directing “The Wolfman,” which hits theaters on April 3. He is developing “The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud.” Johnston previously directed “October Sky“, “Jumanji“, “Jurassic Park III“, “The Rocketeer and Honey“, “I Shrunk the Kids“. Johnston won an Academy Award in 1982 for Best Visual Effects for “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. He now joins the ranks of Jon Favreau, Louis Leterrier, and Kenneth Branagh as Marvel’s dream team of directors set to turn bring the real Marvel universe to life in a series of films that will eventually converge in The Avengers in 2011.

Disney and Stan Lee set 3 projects

Walt Disney Pictures and Stan Lee have set up a trio of projects: ‘Nick Ratchet,’ ‘Blaze‘ and ‘Tigress‘.

The projects are all based on stories by Lee.

Lee has co-created a number of iconic comicbook characters that have spawned feature films including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk and Daredevil.

“Nick Ratchet,” “Blaze” and “Tigress” will feature new characters that have never appeared in Lee’s comicbooks and are being created to debut on the bigscreen first rather than in print.

“Nick Ratchet” will be directed by Richard LaGravenese (“P.S. I Love You”) from a screenplay he is writing. Larry Jacobson and Sonny Grosso are in talks to produce.

“Blaze” is being penned by Gary Goldman (“Next”).
