Leonard Nimoy as the Voice of Sentinel Prime in Transformers: Dark of the Moon

By Nick Martin | Apr 1, 2011 | Movie News (0) Comment

Leonard Nimoy, The Voice of S.Prime

Leonard Nemoy, the half-Vulcan, half-human Mr. Spock of the original Star Trek series, has joined the film as the voice of Sentinel Prime, the predecessor of Optimus Prime.

Director Michael Bay (not because his cousin, actress Susan Bay, was Nemoy’s wife) could hardly make a better choice  to give the voice for the aged Autobot seen at the end of the film’s teaser trailer. Optimus Prime’s wrecked body is the one who’s seen found crash-landed on the moon by the Apollo 11 astronauts back in 1969. Soon, after being brought to earth, he takes the form of a fire engine in the movie’s massive, climactic battle through Chicago.

Best Sci-fi Time Travel Movies

By Nick Martin | Feb 3, 2011 | Movie News (0) Comment

Time Travel

A non-technical approach to the time travel phenomenon had appeared in a number of earlier stories such as in ancient Hindu mythology, in “Mahabharatha” story of the King Revaita, then in “Urashima Tarō”, an early Japanese tale and, for example, in “Memoirs of the Twentieth Century” (1733) by Samuel Madden. The time travel motive was developed with the same passion throughout the seventh art production and still remains popular.

Even the upcoming comedy Get Back, directed by Mark Waters is also the latest in a long track of time travel movies, extending back from at least the 1940s into presumably the distant future.

'Bad Science In Movies' Checklist Chart Along With Apocalyptic Blockbuster Absurd

Hi! I’d like the chart from io9 completewith the article in the London Sunday Times on January 2, 2011. Both surveys turned up interesting details about breaking rules. These facts led us to the conclusion that science and film do not always share equal values.

The io9 report card consists of 11 categories of mistakes or different rules that were broken, such as “sound in space” and “moving in slow-motion in zero gravity”, that Space Cowboys (2000) broke, for example. The Right Stuff (1983) shares first place in the list with Apollo 13 (1995) – you really can get three men back from the moon on the power it takes to run a coffee machine!

New Moon / Terminator Salvation Mistakes

It’s been a bumper year for Hollywood, with box office takings totalling over $10 billion, but there is one big total they might not be so proud of – fans have spotted over 900 mistakes in this year’s releases, submitting them to website moviemistakes.com. A few of the mistakes:

New Moon mistakes: After Bella awakes from the first nightmare, we see her Romeo and Juliet book on the pillow beside her. When Charlie brings in her presents the book is gone, but then reappears on the pillow between shots.

In the very last scene, right before the ultimatum, if you look into the tail lights on Edward’s car you can see various members of the crew reflected. [read more]

Terminator Salvation mistakes: The four-door Jeep Wrangler used in the movie wasn’t made until 2007, three years after the date of Judgment Day as established in Terminator 3 (Saturday 24th July 2004).

When Barnes and Marcus Wright are helping John Connor back to the chopper and when Barnes gets in the helicopter, he’s revealed to be a stand in. It’s in plain sight, at the right side of the screen.
