'Bad Science In Movies' Checklist Chart Along With Apocalyptic Blockbuster Absurd

Hi! I’d like the chart from io9 completewith the article in the London Sunday Times on January 2, 2011. Both surveys turned up interesting details about breaking rules. These facts led us to the conclusion that science and film do not always share equal values.

The io9 report card consists of 11 categories of mistakes or different rules that were broken, such as “sound in space” and “moving in slow-motion in zero gravity”, that Space Cowboys (2000) broke, for example. The Right Stuff (1983) shares first place in the list with Apollo 13 (1995) – you really can get three men back from the moon on the power it takes to run a coffee machine!

Star Wars Saga 3D In Theaters Starting in 2012

By Allan Ford | Sep 29, 2010 | Movie News (1) Comment

Star Wars

Lucasfilm Ltd. and 20th Century Fox are preparing to re-release the entire Star Wars series in theaters again with new 3D conversions. One film would be released each year, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace (1999) would be first out of star-dock in the early months of 2012. After that, each of the films would be released in order at the same time each consecutive year, depending on how well the first re-release does.

Lucasfilm told Variety that the company is committed to making the Star Wars saga look as good in 3D as it would have if it had actually been shot that way.

“It’s not going to look like [conversions] we’ve seen in the past,” said John Knoll, the visual effects supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic. I assume he then coughed into his hand and said something like Clash of the Titans.

Zack Snyder image

At this year’s ShoWest, Zack Snyder and George Lucas announce to the world that Snyder has been tapped to reboot the “Star Wars” franchise!? April fools joke?

Maybe but here’s the word from MovieWeb.com:

“To be honest, Zack wasn’t always my first choice,” Lucas told a crowd of skeptical journalists and fans. “But I feel he can really 300 up the project.”

“The original trilogy is really lacking in terms of cohesiveness, writing, and overall story structure. I just didn’t have the time then to do what I did with episodes 1, 2 and 3 which represent the true intended Star Wars universe,” Lucas added.

“Fanboys” Trailer

By Fiona | Nov 4, 2008 | Movie Trailers (1) Comment

fanboys

In “Fanboys,” a group of friends who are avid Star Wars fans travel west to see the Holly Grail of all sci-fi movies, “Star Wars: Episode I.” The year is 1999 and for these death star dorks, the Star Wars films are more than just movies; they are a way of life.

So, after one of the group takes sick it is nothing short of a moral imperative that the friends break into George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch to watch the seminal sci-fi picture together before its release. Enlisting the help of an estranged friend, who has traded in his Darth Vader mask for a proper day job, the adventure lays way to some extremely funny situations, including an outrageous brawl with some hard-core Trekkies.
