Blade Prequel in the Works, Norrington and Dorff Returning
Stephen Norrington, the original Blade helmer, has confirmed that he is working on a Blade prequel with Stephen Dorff (Blade, World Trade Center.)
“It will be a prequel to the ‘Blade’ movies, Deacon’s story,” Dorff previously said. “It’s a new trilogy the director has created. It will cool. We hope to shoot the first film next year. Frost is a character I have never been able to shake.”
Now in an interview with Comics2Film at Mania.com exclusively, Norrington confirmed the news but said that the project is not exactly how Dorff described it, but close. He added that the Dorff came up with the idea and it “has evolved into a very interesting story.”
Filming for the first film should get underway next year.

“Public Enemies” which is set for release on July 1, 2009 is based on Brian Burrough’s book “Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34.″
It tells the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger – the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover’s fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis, and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public.
The movie also stars Channing Tatum who plays outlaw Pretty Boy Floyd, Giovanni Ribisi as Alvin Karpis, Stephen Dorff as Homer Van Meter, Jason Clarke stars as John “Red” Hamilton, David Wenham as Pete Pierpont, Leelee Sobieski as Polly Hamilton, Emilie de Ravin as Anna Patzke, Branka Katic as Anna Sage and Billy Crudup as J. Edgar Hoover.

Universal Pictures has released a new featurette for the upcoming “Public Enemies” which stars Johnny Depp and Christian Bale among the others.
Director Michael Mann talks about the character of John Dillinger and is joined by Johnny Depp and Christian Bale as well. Bale talks about Dillinger and how he became idolized in America.
The film is based on Brian Burrough’s book “Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34.″ The screenplay based on Burrough’s book was adapted by Ronan Bennett. Later, Michael Mann and Ann Biderman wrote a revised screenplay before shooting.
Channing Tatum plays outlaw Pretty Boy Floyd, Giovanni Ribisi - Alvin Karpis, Stephen Dorff - Homer Van Meter, and Jason Clarke stars as John “Red” Hamilton. That quartet comprised a Dillinger gang that knocked off banks all over the Midwest during the Depression. Christian Bale stars as Melvin Purvis, who was tapped by FBI chief J. Edgar Hoover to lead a manhunt that established the FBI as the country’s first federal police force after the G-Men killed Dillinger outside the Biograph Theater in 1934.
The movie which also stras David Wenham, Marion Cotillard, Leelee Sobieski, Emilie de Ravin, Branka Katic and Billy Crudup is set for release on July 1, 2009.

Warner Bros. has released two new clips from “Public Enemies” starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. TV spots show some never before seen footage from the upcoming summer period piece blockbuster.
“Public Enemies” revolves around legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger and FBI agent Melvin Purvis. In the time when the Great Depression storms America, Dillinger and his gang are unstoppable in robbing banks. Trying to elevate his Bureau of Investigation into the national police force that became the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover declares that Dillinger is America’s first Public Enemy Number One and sends Purvis in the thrill ride to capture the charismatic bank robber.

Don Johnson Becomes Porn Director In “Born to Be a Star”
Don Johnson has joined the upcoming comedy “Born to Be a Star.” Johnson will play a mustached porn director.
The cast also includes Christina Ricci as Swardson’s innocent girlfriend and Stephen Dorff as adult film star Dick Shadow, as well as Edward Herrmann and Tyler Spindel.
Born to Be a Star, is the story of a man (Swardson) who moves to Hollywood to pursue a career in porn. He comes to this realization after he finds out that his parents were highly successful in the genre during the 1970’s. Ricci will star as his innocent girlfriend, while Dorff will play a popular porn star by the name of Dick Shadow. Johnson will star as the director that gives Swardson his big break.
Tom Brady (The Hot Chick) is directing from a script co-written by Adam Sandler and Nick Swardson.
“Born to Be a Star” is set for release next year, but an exact date hasn’t been set yet.
Don Johnson, best known for his roles on TV’s Miami Vice and Nash Bridges, appears this summer in “When in Rome” starring Kristen Bell.

Wade Porter (Stephen Dorff) with a promising future loses everything when he accidentally kills the burglar who broke into his home.
But his life, and that of everyone he loves is threatened and possibly gone forever. Wade ends up in a hellish facility run by Lt. William Jackson (Harold Perrineau), known as the SHU (Security Housing Unit) where the inmates are brutal but far less deadly than the guards.
His cellmate, John Smith (Val Kilmer) is a stone cold prison legend, a ‘lifer’ and a man once devastated so completely that he has nothing left to lose and acts accordingly.
An unlikely bond develops between the two men as Wade struggles to survive, having to put his own life – and the possibility of ever being freed – in relentless jeopardy.
