David Yates to Direct The Stand
If I was David Yates, I would pack my bags and go somewhere far, far away! Because then I would know that I’m the man responsible for one of the most successful film franchises in history (Harry Potter) so, logically, I deserve a vacation.
Yeah, I know you’d do anything to get rid of me, but I’m not going anywhere because, unfortunately, I’m not David Yates.
And, Mr. Yates is unstoppable. And he will team up with screenwriter Steve Kloves (who, in case you have no idea, wrote every Harry Potter film except Order of the Phoenix) to adapt Stephen King’s novel The Stand.
Ok, nothing new in here, but this definitely looks huge. And what’s most important, Warner Bros is in the process of finalizing the deals for Yates and Kloves to re-team for a multi-movie version of Stephen King’s epic that goes like this:
“This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people.
Pet Sematary Searching For Director
It appears there could be developments on reviving another 1980′s hit Pet Sematary, the adaptation of the Stephen King novel that scared many teens in 1989, is making steps back to the big screen too.
Matthew Greenberg, who adapted another of Stephen King’s stories, the short one 1408, starring John Cusack, is set to turn in his script based on King’s zombie-scattered tale to Paramount. And executives at studio give information about seeking a high-level director to deal with material.
The original “Pet Sematary,” which starred fabulous Fred Gwynne and co-starred Denise Crosby and Dale Midkiff, is about a family who moved to a new house near the highway where their son soon is killed. Father buries him on mysterious cemetery where dead son alive like a zombie. It seems all is well again, until the son kills a person. Father has to find a way to stop his son before he kills the whole “dogville”. And with fashionable zombies at the moment thanks to a certain little show called “The Walking Dead,” now seems like the right time to save “Pet Sematary” from disaster.

That’s what we call big news! We all know that The Stand was previously released as a TV mini-series in 1994 with Gary Sinise, Molly Ringwald and Rob Lowe, but this time, we’re hoping to see an extraordinary big-screen treatment!
One of the biggest books of all time, The Stand is an epic story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population.

Naomie Harris in Ron Howard’s The Dark Tower?
Another casting update! Ok, we already know that Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen are both in the running to play the lead character Roland Deschain in the upcoming Ron Howard‘s adaptation of The Dark Tower.
So, we’re here to add another name to this project, because, according to the latest rumors, Naomie Harris is the front runner for the female lead, Susannah Dean!
In the novels Susannah Dean is originally known as Odetta Holmes and Detta Walker, two wildly different women trapped within the same body.
After suffering a serious brain trauma early in her life, Odetta’s damaged mind created the Detta personality, a cold-blooded and violent racist with intentions of killing both Roland and Eddie.
