Matt Damon

Matt Damon is worried he has lost his title as the sexiest man alive - after piling on the pounds for his latest role in “The Informant“.

The Bourne Ultimatum” star — who was given the honour last year by People magazine — joked the 20 to 30lbs he gained for Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming thriller “The Informant” may disqualify him from the position.

He said:

“I think I lost my (Sexiest Man Alive) title.”

The former heartthrob - who won an Oscar for co-writing ‘Good Will Hunting’ with close friend Ben Affleck - also revealed he really enjoyed piling on the pounds for the role.

He tells People.com:

“It wasn’t necessarily that I needed to be fat. It was that I needed to be doughy. I just stopped working out and basically just ate whatever I wanted. I ate a lot of In-N-Out, a lot of burgers, drank a lot of beer and basically had a great time. When you’re in your 20s you can do that kind of stuff. When you’re in your 30s, it’s a whole different ball game.”

Meanwhile, best friend Ben Affleck tells the website:

“Some things are just self-evident and don’t even require making fun of. I mean, the man buys two seats on an airplane!”

Matt Damon On The Set Of “The Informant” In Hawaii

Some set photos popped up from Steven Soderbergh’s “The Informant“, in which Matt Damon stars as Mark Whitacre, the biggest whistleblower the FBI ever snagged, a central figure in the 90s lysine price-fixing scandal.

In the movie, the US government decides to go after an agri-business giant with a price-fixing accusation, based on the evidence submitted by their star witness, vice president turned informant Mark Whitacre (Damon), who is the highest-level whistle-blower the FBI ever managed to flip. The film is based on Kurt Eichenwald’s 2000 best-seller “The Informant: A True Story.”

Benicio del Toro as Ernesto “Che” Guevara

Steven Soderbergh’s competition title Che will be released by Fox in Spain as two separate films.

Pedro Uriol of Morena Films, Che’s Spanish producers says:

“The first film (The Argentine) will be released by Fox in September, and the second (Guerrilla) will follow after that, although the date is yet to be confirmed,”

There has been some consternation over releasing Che in Cannes as one four and a half hour film. But the producers have insisted that the film be split into two for its theatrical release in Spain.

The Argentine will follow Che Guevarra, played by Benicio Del Toro, and his involvement in the Cuban revolution and the second will chart his exploits in Bolivia before his death.
