Sony has launched the website for McG‘s Terminator follow-up, “Terminator Salvation.” At this point, the site only shows first teaser trailer that we are used to. Stay tuned.

The new movie is set in post-apocalyptic 2018. Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

Roland Kickinger: The New Face of Terminator

Roland KickingerA former body builder and Mr Universe winner from Austria Roland Kickinger has been cast as the new Terminator in the upcoming film “Terminator Salvation“.Canadian paper the Clinton News-Record interviewed Kickinger, who confirmed that he would play the T-800 in the new blockbuster.

Kickinger said of the role:

“It’s Arnold’s character in the first Terminator. That’s basically my role, but 20 years before, so it establishes how the Terminator [came] about,” said Kickinger, further explaining: “There’s a very strong scene in the film where John Connor for the first time meets the Terminator, and he doesn’t know if he’s a good guy or a bad guy.”

The paper says that Kickinger emigrated from Austria to the US 13 years ago and has already starred in the spoof “Baywatch” series “Son of a Beach” and also played Schwarzenegger in the TV biopic “See Arnold Run”.

“Terminator Salvation” opens in cinemas on 22 May 2009.

Cinematical has been informed that the first teaser trailer for “Terminator Salvation” will most likely arrive tonight, around 9pm EST. Where? We do not know yet.

Some of the interesting things is that the film has a budget of more than $200 million and that the name could end up being “Terminator Salvation” instead of “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”

The New York Times has a photo from the set of “Terminator Salvation” (Albuquerque, New Mexico). Looks like they destroyed a 7-Eleven.

 

McG (“Charlie’s Angels” and “We Are Marshall”) directed film came close to shooting in Budapest before New Mexico’s package of offerings won out.

Helena Bonham CarterHelena Bonham Carter is in talks to join the cast of McG’s ”Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

She will join Christian Bale, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anton Yelchin, Sam Worthington, Moon Bloodgood in the ”Terminator Salvation” cast.

Bonham Carter is in line for a small but crucial role in the fourth instalment of the science fiction franchise.

Christian Bale has admitted that he would never star in a romantic comedy because he doesn’t find them funny.

Christian Bale, who has appeared in ”American Psycho”, ”Batman Begins” and ”3:10 to Yuma”, insisted that he does not intentionally choose dark roles.

“I have no attraction to misery,” he told.
