Well, let’s finally end the speculations with one great photo from the upcoming Terrence Malick‘s The Tree of Life, project that will premiere at Cannes Film Festival on May 16. You see? There will be dinosaurs after all!
Ok, it’s actually one “little” dinosaur, but we all expected something like that is coming, I mean, you can’t have the tree of life, without this old-style cutie, right?
So, as we previously reported, from Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line comes The Tree of Life, an impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950’s.
Second The Tree of Life Poster

Today we have a new poster for The Tree of Life, which is basically a gallery of images showing off the more beautiful shots in the trailer that was released back in December.
Synopsis: From Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950’s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick’s signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.

More casting news, and this time, we’re here for a little “love story” update!
Back in February we all had a chance to hear some details about the upcoming Terrence Malick’s untitled project, with quite interesting cast, that (back then) included Christian Bale, Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams, and Olga Kurylenko.
Today, we’re here to report that Ben Affleck has replaced Bale, and that lovely Rachel Weisz has also signed on!
So, like we said, the film doesn’t yet have a title, we have nothing except “love story” thing when it comes to plot details, and we have no idea what sort of character the above mentioned actors might play as well.
Bale, Bardem, McAdams, Kurylenko In Terrence Malick’s Next
Legendary director Terrence Malick will shoot an untitled romantic drama with Christian Bale, Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams and Olga Kurylenko.
There were no story details on the film at the time, but it was said to be a love story that Malick has written and will also direct.
The film was said to start shooting sometime this fall.
The film will be produced by Nicolas Gonda, Sarah Green and Bill Pohlad of River Road.
“We are delighted to be part of this extraordinary team. Everyone involved brings a unique perspective to this powerful and moving love story.
We are especially gratified to be working with Glen Basner and all the talented folks at FilmNation.” the producers said in a statement.
FilmNation Entertainment will be handling international sales and distribution.
Brad Pitt Lead Role In ‘Tree of Life’
There’s been no official announcement as yet, but it’s been reported that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been sighted in Smithville, Texas where Terrence Malick may be setting up for a location shoot.
Heath Ledger had been previously linked to the lead role.
According to previous reports, Sean Penn is attached to star in ‘Tree of Life’ as well.
The story, which the elusive filmmaker has apparently been quietly crafting for decades, has been called a ‘complex drama’.
In the summer of 1978, Malick had begun work on this film, which was his most ambitious project. It was called ‘Q’ at the time, but now it has returned with the title ‘Tree of Life’.
