2012 BAFTA Nominations Aannounced
BAFTA, aka The British Academy of Film and Television Arts nominations are announced guys!
I’m looking at this full list and can’t help but wonder is this going to be a Golden Globe remake?
2012 Golden Globe Winners
Alexander Payne‘s The Descendants and Michel Hazanavicius‘ The Artist both won a best picture prize and a best actor prize.
The Artist with six nominations won 3 prizes – for best picture (musical or comedy), best actor – Jean Dujardin (also in musical or comedy) and for best musical score.
The Descendants with 5 nominations won in the drama category and took one for a best actor - George Clooney.
The 17th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Select THE ARTIST as Best Picture and Michel Hazanavicius as Best Director
The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) announced the winners of the 17th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards earlier this evening. Hosted by comedians Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel , the star-studded ceremony was held at the Hollywood Palladium and aired live on VH1. “The Artist” was named the year’s Best Picture and Michael Hazanavicius won Best Director honors for the film.
Other big winners of the night included George Clooney, who took Best Actor for his role in “The Descendants” and Viola Davis, who won Best Actress for her role in “The Help.” Also honored was Christopher Plummer with the Best Supporting Actor award and Octavia Spencer for Best Supporting Actress both for her work in “The Help.”
2011 The Internet Film Critics Society (IFCS) Awards Winners
The Internet Film Critic Society announced the winners of their 5th Annual Movie Awards, giving the top honor (Best Drama) to Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life. Malick also won the Best Director prize. Other awards went to Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (Best Comedy), Drive (Best Action Film), and Attack the Block (Best Horror or Science Fiction Film). George Clooney picked up the award for Best Actor for his performance in The Descendants and Rooney Mara won Best Actress for her role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Independent Spirit Awards Nominations Announced
Some would say that it’s time for the final countdown but I will say it’s time to get a bit enthusiastic.

THE DESCENDANTS Trailer #2 and Three Clips
Fox Searchlight Pictures has debuted the second trailer and three clips for the new dramatic comedy The Descendants, Alexander Payne’s adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings 2007 debut novel. The film stars George Clooney as an absentee father who suddenly finds himself responsible for the care of his two daughters when his wife falls into a coma after a boating accident.

Alexander Payne‘s upcoming movie is definitely something worth our attention, simply because great Clooney is in it, and, let’s face it, this man always has quite interesting roles. This one is not exception, my friends…
As you already know, the whole thing is an adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings’ The Descendants, scripted by Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash.

Earlier we posted the first poster for The Descendants comedy-drama movie and today we have a brand new trailer.
The film, which stars George Clooney, is described as a sometimes humorous, sometimes poignant journey for Matt King (Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki. The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family’s land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.
