‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ Trailer in June
Rob Cohen, director of the upcoming sequel ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,’ told that the low-key marketing of the film will ramp up with the release of the first trailer in June – but not a moment sooner.
“The trailers that Universal cut have a lot of the most complicated visual effects, and there is so much more in the movie,” said Cohen. “But this is something they want to focus on, and I don’t want it out before those effects are finished.”
Despite the film’s fast-approaching August 1st release date, Cohen said he isn’t concerned that the film is still off the summer radar.
“We have an audience that knows the name, and we’re not trying to create audience recognition from ground zero. I think if we have a solid couple of months to advertise, no one will miss it. [Audiences] will have made up their minds, but I don’t want them to make up their minds on incomplete work.”
Talking about the third installment in the franchise, Cohen said: “The whole approach is different. The sets are bigger, and they are less digital. It builds on the legacy, but it’s a very different movie.”

Spin-Off of ‘The Mummy’ to Be Developed
Though the third installment of “The Mummy” franchise “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” has yet to hit the theaters, the talks about the film’s spin-off have hit the web.
Rob Cohen, “The Mummy 3″ director is considering to make a spin-off series from the character of Alex O’Connell who is played by Australian actor Luke Ford.

On Wednesday, March 5, the director expressed his hopes stating:
“We may spin off into a complete father-son direction with Brendan, but by getting an actor who is in his 20s and not a teenager, we can also put the future on his shoulders.”
Further, in an interview with the publication, the 26-year-old Luke Ford also revealed that the spin-off talk has indeed been done:
“There was talk at one point they might do a spin off series with Alex O’Connell depending on the success of this film…they’re picking me up to be in the franchise, not necessarily taking over it. I’d definitely like to be part of that series if they ask me again.”
“Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” that will bow in theaters on August 1, 2008 once again features Brendan Fraser as its star.
