Jon Turteltaub’s new movie The Sorcerer’s Apprentice hits theaters on July 16, and Walt Disney Pictures has begun airing television spots for the film.
Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé.

Apple has debuted the first trailer for Jon Turteltaub‘s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” The first official photos from the movie also have been released. Check them out below.

THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE Set Photos
Walt Disney Pictures filming The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, adaptation of the classic story from “Fantasia,” in a New York City subway on Thursday and Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel and Terese Palmer (Bedtime Stories) were spotted on the set of the big screen adaptation.
A sorcerer (Nicolas Cage) leaves his workshop in the hands of his apprentice (Jay Baruchel), who gets into trouble when the broomstick he’s tasked to do his chores for him somehow develops a mind of its own. Teresa Palmer will play Baruchel’s love interest. Alfred Molina, not pictured, plays an evil sorcerer.
