Sundance Selects VOD Offering
Sundance Selects, the theatrical and streaming media label, today announced the second partnership with the not-for-profit Sundance Institute for the 2011 Sundance Film Festival (January 20th – 30th, Park City, UT). It presents initiative under which traditional film fests (including TriBeCa, established in 2002, NY) expand their brands by offering a few current selections for a limited time via VOD platforms. The films will be available in approximately 40 million homes on most major cable systems including Bright House, Comcast, Cablevision, Cox, and Time Warner Cable.

Thomas Dekker in Footloose Remake?
Finally something new about Footloose remake! Thomas Dekker seems to be the latest top candidate to play Bacon’s classic character from the original film. Sounds good?
We all remember this 22-year-old actor from Nightmare on Elm Street remake, so maybe he could be just the perfect guy to play Ren McCormak, a “dance-happy outsider who shakes up a small town” well-known character from the 1984 original.
So what do we actually know about this project so far? We know that Hustle and Flow director Craig Brewer has signed on to direct a remake for Paramount, the project that initially had been set up for High School Musical director Kenny Ortega and envisioned as a lighter, musical-theater-style piece.
Kaboom by Gregg Araki Clips, Cannes 2010
Another movie that just had its premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival Out Of Competition, was a science fiction film both written and directed by Gregg Araki, with an interesting title Kaboom.
This story centers on “the sexual awakening of a group of college students,” so you already guess that it’s quite provocative project, with super hot young cast. And we are here today to share Cannes clip from Kaboom with you.

A Nightmare on Elm Street Review
Yes, A Nightmare on Elm Street is the best remake Platinum Dunes has produced, but the reason behind that is also the film’s handicap. For the most part, Wesley Strick and Eric Heisserer’s screenplay hems incredibly close to Craven’s original. There comes a point in the film, however, where staying faithful to the source material becomes a bit too problematic. Mainstream audiences, particularly those who didn’t grow up with Krueger, will be unaffected, but horror fans may soon grow bored with the lack of individuality in the scripting department. And then just as the film threatens to overthrow its predecessor by changing (for the better) Krueger’s origin story, it backs off, once again sacrificing innovation for tradition…read more [Hollywood.com]

MTV got their hands on these wicked new TV Spots from the upcoming remake of Wes Craven‘s classic horror film A Nightmare On Elm Street starring Jackie Earle Haley.
Similar to the original story, in this film Freddy Krueger is hunted down by the parents of a small town and burned alive for his heinous crimes against children. As his final act of revenge he decides to continue his killing spree but inside the subconscious of kids where no one can save them.
