New Valkyrie Movie Trailer

Posted by Allan Ford 26 September, 2008 (0) Comment

United Artists has released the new trailer for upcoming World War II thriller “Valkyrie” starring Tom Cruise, Kenneth Branagh, and Bill Nighy. This one is more fast-paced and more intense than the first one.

In the movie, Cruise plays Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, the aristocratic German officer who led the heroic attempt to bring down the Nazi regime and end the war by planting a bomb in Hitler’s bunker. The “July 20 Plot” on Hitler’s life is one of the most heroic but least known episodes of World War Two. Severely wounded in combat, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg returns from Africa to join the German Resistance and help create Operation Valkyrie, the complex plan that will allow a shadow government to replace Hitler’s once he is dead. But fate and circumstance conspire to thrust Stauffenberg from one of many in the plot to a double-edged central role. Not only must he lead the coup and seize control of his nation’s government… He must kill Hitler himself. Read the rest of this entry

Tom Cruise and Sem Raimi Team Up for “Sleeper”

Tom Cruise Is a Sleeper ?

Tom Cruise Is a Sleeper ?

Tom Cruise and Sam Raimi will team up for a movie adaptation of the comic book “Sleeper“, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Even if Cruise opts not to do Sleeper, his interest in the project is propelling it forward, despite complicated rights issues that must be sorted out. Raimi has long been a fan of the book, and the project could have found homes at Sony and Regency if those issues hadn’t been so complex.

Written by Ed Brubaker with art by Sean Phillips, Sleeper, which ran from 2003-05, centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. He is placed undercover in a villainous organization by an intelligence agency and falls for a member of the group, named Miss Misery.

Sleeper is the third project that Cruise has become associated with over the past two weeks –all three separate from his commitments at UA. In addition to “The Tourist“, the actor has expressed interest in the Working Title-Universal comedy “Food Fight.”

Tom Cruise to Star in Comedy “Food Fight”

Posted by Allan Ford 12 August, 2008 (0) Comment

Tom Cruise has been linked to Universal’s new high school cafeteria comedy “Food Fight“.

Cruise would play a snooty New York chef who, for some odd reason, is forced to cook in a school cafeteria.

Taking a step into comedy sounds like a good step for Cruise. As already said, he’s terrific in “Tropic Thunder“. He’s never really made a purely comedic film, only films with comedic elements, and that’s not for want of comedy talent.

Veteran scribe Adam Brooks who wrote and directed the enjoyable film “Definitely, Maybe” is attached to write the screenplay. A search for a director is under way.

Cruise next stars in historical action film “Valkyrie“, in which he plays a very serious role: Klaus von Stauffenberg, the Nazi commander who plotted to kill Hitler. I can’t wait to see it. From sneak preview reports - it’s a must-see movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
