The 13-year-old son of Tom Cruise, Connor is following in his father’s footsteps.

Connor Cruise, the adopted son of Tom Cruise and ex-wife Nicole Kidman, has a minor, non-speaking part in the upcoming Will Smith drama “Seven Pounds,” a spokesman for Columbia Pictures confirmed Tuesday.

Connor Cruise shot his part over two days more than a month ago, playing Smith as a young man and mostly shown in photographs.

The movie, which is still in production, co-stars Rosario Dawson and is directed by “The Pursuit of Happyness” filmmaker Gabriele Muccino. The drama follows the story of a man who affects the lives of seven strangers.

Calls and e-mails to publicists for Kidman and Tom Cruise were not immediately returned Tuesday.

Cruise and Kidman also have an adopted daughter, 15-year-old Isabella. Kidman is pregnant with her first child with hubby singer Keith Urban.

Ronald D. Moore Creating a New Sci-Fi Trilogy

Posted by Allan Ford 18 April, 2008 (0) Comment

Ronald D. MooreA new science fiction trilogy is in the works at Tom Cruise’s recently reestablished United Artists. The studio has signed a deal with “Battlestar Galactica” co-creator and writer/producer Ronald D. Moore, who will create and write a completely new sci-fi trilogy. Unfortunately story details have not been announced, but this is still a great announcement for any “Battlestar Galactica” fans or sci-fi fans in general - Moore is currently one of the most impressive creative writers working in the genre at the moment. Moore is one hell of sci-fi guru and it’s certainly exciting to hear he’s got this new big screen trilogy in the works. If you’re not familiar with Ronald D. Moore, you definitely should be. Not only is he one of “Battlestar Galactica’s” creators, writers, and producers, but he also worked on Mission: Impossible II, Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Generations. And here’s the best part for big sci-fi geeks like me, Moore was also a writer and producer on “Star Trek: The Next Generation“. UA’s partner Paula Wagner explains Moore’s influence: “Over the last decade Ron has emerged as the foremost sci-fi, fantasy creator, writer in the industry and working with him to bring his creative talents to the big screen is a great partnership for our studio.”

What a great year for Star Trek geeks! Not only do we have J.J. Abrams making Star Trek, but now we’ve got one of the big “Next Generation” writers bringing us a new sci-fi trilogy? What a glorious day! Is sci-fi on the rise again in Hollywood? I really just hope this doesn’t go the way of Stargate. That was originally supposed to be a trilogy but after one movie the remaining two were never made and it went on to become a TV show of its own.

Tom Cruise - Valkyrie

“MGM is proud and excited to be presenting ‘Valkyrie’, and because of that we want to give it the best launch possible,” said Clark Woods, President of Domestic Distribution of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, which is distributing the movie domestically.

“When an opening became available for President’s Day Weekend, we seized the opportunity. Having seen a lot of the film and how great it is going to play once it’s finished, moving into a big holiday weekend is the right move.”

“Valkyrie is shaping up to be a phenomenal movie,” said Dennis Rice, President of Worldwide Marketing and Publicity for United Artists, which made the movie. “We’re delighted that MGM has agreed to hold the release until the very strong holiday weekend.”

Bringing a fresh and surprise-filled take to a world people only thought they knew, Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men, Superman Returns) re-teams with his Academy Award®-winning ‘Usual Suspects’ screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie on ‘Valkyrie’, a suspense thriller based on the true story of the daring and ingenious plot to assassinate the most monstrous villain the world has ever known.

Tom Cruise heads an internationally acclaimed ensemble that includes Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Eddie Izzard, Christian Berkel, Thomas Kretschmann, Terrance Stamp and acclaimed stage actress Carice Van Houten. ‘Valkyrie’, a United Artist’s production, will be released by MGM.

More ‘Valkyrie’ Filming Underway

Posted by Allan Ford 25 March, 2008 (0) Comment

Bryan Singer’s WW2 thriller “Valkyrie” is about to start two full weeks of extra filming reports Hollywood Elsewhere.

Is it reshoots? Not really according to an MGM spokeswoman. What they are filming “is the big battle scene that was always intended to be shot that didn’t occur in Berlin. These scenes took place in North Africa so they could not be shot in Berlin obviously. So they are not reshooting, but rather [shooting] additional photography” she says.

‘Valkyrie’

Dennis Rise, the head of publicity, says

This is not new news. We have always planned to shoot a couple scenes in the first quarter of this year. These are scenes which were always part of the original screenplay and shooting script. Because of the nature of the scenes, they were never intended to be shot in Berlin.

The Tom Cruise thriller follows a conspiracy by German officers to kill Hitler.

Tom Cruise Spotted On The Set Of ‘Star Trek’!

Posted by Allan Ford 25 February, 2008 (0) Comment

Mission Impossible III, Tom Cruise

Star Trek director J.J. Abrams was visited on the set today by the star of his film Mission Impossible III, Tom Cruise.

JFXOnline who tell that Cruise was on the Star Trek set 22.02. in Los Angeles for a couple of hours. I have to ask myself, is that enough time for a cameo or just a friendly “Hello and here are some Scientology pamphlets”?

Rumors were swirling a few months back that Tom Cruise would have a small cameo role in Abrams’ re-imagined Star Trek. Sources, including one of Cruise’s representatives Arnold Robinson, denied the rumors and said, “That story is not true…here are some pamphlets.”

All kidding aside, they denied the rumors, but suffice it to say Cruise was in fact on the Trek set today. Could a Cruise cameo be the big surprise of the film? Or maybe we’re just blowing this out of proportion and he was just dropping by to visit a good friend.

Who knows, we do know that Paramount and Cruise weren’t exactly on speaking terms last time we checked. Oh well, I guess time will tell!

Star Trek hits theaters summer 2009.
