Studio Canal and Working Title have released a second international trailer for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, the Tomas Alfredson-directed adaptation of the John Le Carre espionage novel. The film stars Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ciaran Hinds. Set during the 70s, with the cold war raging, George Smiley (Oldman) is a semi-retired spy who is brought out of retirement to hunt down an undercover Russian agent who has infiltrated MI6.

Focus Features has debuted a new poster for the Cold War drama Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, which features Benedict Cumberbatch (English film, television, and theatre actor) as Peter Guillam, who is shown through a layer of intricate coding. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is an upcoming film directed by Tomas Alfredson, from a screenplay by Bridget O’Connor and Peter Straughan based on the 1974 novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy by John le Carré.
Along with Cumberbatch the film stars Gary Oldman as George Smiley, Colin Firth as Bill Haydon, Tom Hardy as Ricki Tarr, Mark Strong as Jim Prideaux, and Ciarán Hinds as Roy Bland.

Ok, these days we’re only talking about the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, but today, we’re here to report something quite interesting about (also upcoming) the 68th Venice Film Festival, that kicks off this year on August 31 and runs through to September 10, 2011, when the complete group of winners will be announced.
So, guess what, it looks that Tomas Alfredson‘s highly anticipated Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy will have that honor to open it!
