Shane Black to Direct Iron Man 3
Marvel Studios offers Shane Black the director’s chair for Iron Man 3 as it has been confirmed that Jon Favreau will not be directing Iron Man 3 and moved on to play with Disney and Magic Kingdom.
Marvel is obviously looking at options to fill the empty role, and one choice is Shane Black. Iron Man 3 would re-team Black and Downey, who worked together on the well-regarded Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which Black directed and co-wrote. In 2005, he received the Best Original Screenplay award for that crime/dark comedy. The cast includes Robert Downey, Jr. as well as Val Kilmer.
Favreau’s Iron Man movies were centered on character, first and foremost, so Black’s humorous, character-driven writing style where he often adds comments and jokes about the situations taking place in the story, would be a perfect fit. The alcohol, self-destroying Tony Stark would fit together with such unlikely Shane Black heroes as desperate police officer Martin Riggs and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’s clumsy fake detective Harry Lockhart, also played by Robert Downey Jr. Black seems to have an all in one.
Cobie Smulders On The Avengers
UPDATE: Variety is now reporting Smulders is confirmed!
Cobie Smulders (CBS’s How I Met Your Mother) has appeared as the favorite for the character of SHIELD Agent Maria Hill in the Joss Whedon’s The Avengers and the actor’s contract could be done over the weekend.
The audition occurred the day before yesterday and Smudlers was one of six actresses who reportedly had to read alongside Samuel L. Jackson for a Nick Fury’s assistant Maria Hill. Smulders wasn’t new and unfamiliar to Whedon. He appreciated her as a candidate for Wonder Woman when he was working on that superhero film.
The character of Maria Hill in the comics was the brutal executive of SHIELD, who was not above bribing and harassment superheroes to get her way. She was eventually stepped into the shoes of Tony Stark aka Iron Man. She’s represented by UTA and Roar. Marvel Studios starts production in April, which most likely falls into Smulders’ TV gap on the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.”

You think you’re watching superhero movie about a shy teenager named Peter Parker who discovers that a genetically engineered spider bite has given him superpowers. But this could easily be modified that Spider-Man really is all about semen, or puberty. We tend to find Spider-Man easier to identify with than other superheroes. He’s not an alien, like Superman, or the son of a major Norse god, like Thor. But that’s not all we have in common with Peter Parker: His superhero birth-trauma story is one with which we’re all painfully familiar — puberty.

Paramount Pictures has released three more photos from Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 2 and they feature Iron Man himself, director Jon Favreau (in character as Hogan), Mickey Rourke, and what looks like a cockatoo bird.
Iron Man 2 will follow billionaire inventor Tony as the world is aware that he is the man behind the armored Super Hero Iron Man. Asked to share his technology, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. Thus, he forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces with Pepper Potts and James “Rhodey” Rhodes at his side.

Paramount and Marvel have used the 2010 Oscars as the night to debut new trailer for Iron Man 2, immediately after the show (it also appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel’s post-Oscar show).
