Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman – Tropic Thunder Spin-Off Has Script
Tom Cruise again. Only, this time, we’re not here to chat about Mission Impossible or his upcoming Rock of Ages (enough of that one, please!). We’re here to share something well… let’s mark that as an interesting update on the Tropic Thunder spinoff that featured Cruise as funny Hollywood super agent Les Grossman.
If you’re interested in this project, then I’m sure you’re going to love the fact that screenwriter Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World) has finished the script to the spin-off.
Michael Bacall To Write Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman Movie
It’s official now! Paramount Pictures and MTV Films announced the development of a comedy focused on Grossman, the foul-mouthed movie producer played by Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder and the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.
Cruise, Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfield are producing the project with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World screenwriter Michael Bacall tackling the script.
No word yet if the Tropic Thunder crew will reprise their roles in this project. Let us remind you that movie starred Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, Jay Baruchel and Matthew McConaughey, but it looks that above mentioned guys (or, producers) are quite excited about the whole thing.
“Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds, and I am honored to be working with him,” said Stiller, who starred in, co-wrote and directed Tropic Thunder.
Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman Movie
After his appearing at the MTV Movie Awards last weekend it’s been confirmed that Tom Cruise will produce and star in a film based on his Tropic Thunder character Les Grossman.
As co-producer, Ben Stiller released a statement today on behalf of Paramount Pictures:
“Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the human class struggle to achieve greatness against all odds.”
“He has assured me he plans to, quote, ‘F**king kill the sh*t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.’ I am honoured to be working with him,” Stiller said.
For Your Consideration: “Kirk Lazarus” For Best Supporting Actor
One of the potential nominees for Best Supporting Actor Academy is Kirk Lazarus…I mean Robert Downey Jr.
As we know Oscar season is approaching and Parmount Pictures are pushing their reminder of Downey’s work in “Tropic Thunder” who underwent a controversial procedure in order to play the role of the gritty black sergeant Lincoln Osiris. Check out one of the ads below which is great.

Tom Cruise to Star in Comedy “Food Fight”
Tom Cruise has been linked to Universal’s new high school cafeteria comedy “Food Fight“.
Cruise would play a snooty New York chef who, for some odd reason, is forced to cook in a school cafeteria.
Taking a step into comedy sounds like a good step for Cruise. As already said, he’s terrific in “Tropic Thunder“. He’s never really made a purely comedic film, only films with comedic elements, and that’s not for want of comedy talent.
Veteran scribe Adam Brooks who wrote and directed the enjoyable film “Definitely, Maybe” is attached to write the screenplay. A search for a director is under way.
