True Grit Cast Interviews: Punishment Comes One Way Or Another

In Fandango (A.Trey) exclusive interview with Jeff Bridges (role of R. Cogburn) he spoke about what Ethan Coen said to him,
“No, we’re not making that movie (a 1969 film adaptation starring John Wayne and directed by H. Hathaway, one and only film for which John Wayne won an Oscar). We’re making the book”
C. Portis’ novel (1968) is narrated in the first person by Mattie Ross (stars Hailee Steinfeld , just turned 14, it’s her major motion picture debut), churchgoing spinster renowned by a rare independence and strength of mind. She teams up with Cogburn to avenge the death of her father at the hands of Tom Chaney who is played by Josh Brolin.
Three New True Grit TV Spots
Three new TV spots have dropped for True Grit, the Coen Brothers’ forthcoming adaptation of Charles Portis‘ 1968 novel of the same name (previously adapted for a film starring John Wayne) and in its latest iteration, starring Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin, Matt Damon, and Hailee Steinfeld.
Following the murder of her father by hired hand Tom Chaney, 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross sets out to capture the killer. To aid her, she hires the toughest U.S. marshal she can find, a man with “true grit,” Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn. Mattie insists on accompanying Cogburn, whose drinking, sloth, and generally reprobate character do not augment her faith in him. Against his wishes, she joins him in his trek into the Indian Nations in search of Chaney. They are joined by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf, who wants Chaney for his own purposes. The unlikely trio find danger and surprises on the journey, and each has his or her “grit” tested.

MSN has debuted the third poster for Joel and Ethan Coen’s True Grit. The film is an adaptation of the popular novel of the same name that was made famous by the 1969 Henry Hathaway movie.

The film stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin, with the story centering on a tough U.S. Marshal that helps a stubborn young woman track down her father’s murderer. This is an adaptation of the 1968 novel and a remake of the 1969 film starring John Wayne.

True Grit, the new Coen Brothers (Ethan and Joel) movie, is heading into cinemas Stateside this December, and the first hi-res photo from the movie has just pitched up online. The photo shows Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), in the same role that won John Wayne an Oscar for the 1969 original, as one-eyed sheriff Rooster and Hailee Steinfeld as Mattie Ross.
Matt Damon and Josh Brolin Join Coen Brothers’ True Grit
Matt Damon and Josh Brolin are in discussions to join the next Coen brothers film – remake of the 1969 western classic “True Grit.”
Jeff Bridges is already a member of the cast as Marshall “Rooster” Cogburn, originally played by John Wayne who won an Oscar for this role.
The original “True Grit,” based on the Charles Portis novel, tells the story of U.S. marshal Rooster Cogburn and another man in uniform tracking the killer of a 14 year-old girl’s father.
