Viggo Mortensen Will Not Star In THE HOBBIT?
Hate this news, but there’s nothing we can do about it. Viggo Mortensen revealed that he doesn’t expect to reprise his Aragorn character in the upcoming The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey movie. Directed by Peter Jackson, this movie will hit the theaters on December 14th, 2012, while it’s follow-up The Hobbit: There and Back Again has a release date of December 13th, 2013. Who knows, maybe something will change until then?

Diane Lane as Martha Kent in Superman Reboot
Diane Lane has signed on to play Martha Kent in Zack Snyder‘s upcoming Superman movie. Lane will star alongside headliner Henry Cavill in the untitled Warner Bros. project.
Warner Bros. Pictures said on a recent Wednesday that the actress, officially on board the film as Martha “Ma” Kent, is set as “the only mother Clark Kent has ever known.” In addition, Snyder said in a statement:
This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”
Kristen Stewart in Talks to Star in Snow White and the Huntsman
Ok, we have the new Snow White – say ‘hi’ to Kristen Stewart!
Unfortunately, nothing is confirmed yet, and I know you hate when something is not official, but wait!
According to the latest reports, negotiations are still in progress, and she now appears to be even closer to join the cast of Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman than last week.
Stewart would join previously announced Viggo Mortenson, who is in talks to play the Huntsman and Charlize Theron, who is in talks to play the Evil Queen.
Last week we had a little chat about her possible cast, and now, according to THR she’s currently in negotiations to star in the film “with both parties involved wanting it to happen.”
Viggo Mortensen in Talks for Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart and Emily Browning Possible Choices for Snow White Role
This is going to be a long report, so pay good attention!
You already saw the title, so you know it’s about the upcoming Universal’s re-imagining of the fairy tale classic Snow White and the Huntsman.
For the role of the Huntsman Universal had been looking at Tom Hardy and Johnny Depp as well as Michael Fassbender.
So, let’s start with the latest casting updates – Viggo Mortensen is currently in talks to star in the whole thing as Huntsman, while the latest actresses attached to the project are Kristen Stewart and Emily Browning for the pivotal role – Snow White.
[UPDATE: Viggo Mortensen has dropped out of the project, after negotiating with Universal over the past few months.]
Naomie Harris in Ron Howard’s The Dark Tower?
Another casting update! Ok, we already know that Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen are both in the running to play the lead character Roland Deschain in the upcoming Ron Howard‘s adaptation of The Dark Tower.
So, we’re here to add another name to this project, because, according to the latest rumors, Naomie Harris is the front runner for the female lead, Susannah Dean!
In the novels Susannah Dean is originally known as Odetta Holmes and Detta Walker, two wildly different women trapped within the same body.
After suffering a serious brain trauma early in her life, Odetta’s damaged mind created the Detta personality, a cold-blooded and violent racist with intentions of killing both Roland and Eddie.
Vincent Cassel Returns For Eastern Promises 2
David Cronenberg‘s Eastern Promises 2 is coming, and it’s definitely not a surprise, since the director revealed his plans about the sequel back in March, when we also learned that Cronenberg has already had meetings with Viggo Mortensen about reprising his Nikolai role.
But today, we’re here to report that Vincent Cassel confirmed that he will be returning (as Kirill) for the sequel as well!
In an interview with ComingSoon, Vincent Cassel said:
“I sure hope it happens. There’s a script, David Cronenberg wants to do it. The script is really good, so hopefully it’s going to go.
I think David wants to make another film before, but whenever they’re ready, I told them, ‘I’m here’.
Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen Join On The Road
Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen have joined the cast of Walter Salles’ film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s On The Road.
The movie already includes some great cast: Sam Riley, Kirsten Dunst, Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlund. Sounds very good, we must admit, especially when we have a plot like this:
“Fans of Kerouac get the whole beautiful, groovy deal with this new recording of the radically hip novel that many consider the heart of the Beat movement. Poetic, open and raw, Kerouac’s prose lays out a cross-country adventure as experienced by Sal Paradise, an autobiographical character.
A Dangerous Method: Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender First Look
With three well-known names involved in the whole thing, this project definitely sounds awesome.
David Cronenberg‘s long waited project with Viggo Mortensen as Sigmund Freud and Michael Fassbender as Carl Jung, titled A Dangerous Method is moving forward, so we guess you’ll be happy to hear that we finally have something to share with you – the first set photos!
We already wrote about this movie, but let’s all remind the story once again:
