Relativity Media has Announced Live-Action Voltron Movie
Five heroes, five lions, one oversize robot, one blazing sword, that’s the proven formula that’s worked out pretty well for Voltron fans since 1984. Now Relativity Media and Atlas Entertainment are both trying to restart passion for the series making a live–action feature based on the popular animated Voltron: Defender of the Universe series.
“Voltron” Gets A Director: Max Makowski
Last week we reported that Relativity had scooped up the gestating the Japanese television series adaptation film Voltron: Defender of the Universe from 20th Century Fox with plans to make it with a more moderate budget (ala 300).” Latino Review report tonight that Max Makowski (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy), a general unknown, is set to direct the nostalgic robot actioner.
Voltron Finally Coming Together After A Relative Turnaround
Twentieth Century Fox has dropped its robot action movie Voltron: Defender Of The Universe, reports Variety but that doesn’t necessarily mean the project is dead.
Ryan Kavanaugh‘s financing and production venture Relativity Media is in negotiations to back the property, though on a more moderate budget, utilizing the type of cost-effective technology like Zack Snyder used in 300.
Mark Gordon (The Day After Tomorrow) and Jordan Wynn are still producers for the adaptation of the 1980′s Japanese anime while Bryan Zuriff is still executive producing. A director is likely to be announced shortly to lead the film, based on Justin Marks’ screenplay. Continue Reading…
