Odeon Will Not Boycott Alice In Wonderland

At first, it was a very nice Lewis Carrol‘s adventure story that we all grew up with. Than, director  Tim Burton decided to make kind of magical and imaginative twist on some of the most beloved stories of all time.

So, we got the chance to watch young lady Alice, while she returns to this fairy-tale world, trying to find her true destiny and, by the way, with her childhood friends, end the Red Queen’s reign of terror. Who would miss these adventures of Alice, knowing that the role of Mad Hatter belongs to Johnny Depp?!

So, everything started pretty well. The Walt Disney company had a lot of reasons to be satisfied, but in the same time, theatres were hoping for exactly the same thing, since we all know that normally, movies play in first-run theaters for up to 16 weeks.

Tron: Legacy to be Released as IMAX 3D on December 17

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has sent out an official announcement stating that “Tron: Legacy” we’ll be released simultaneously to IMAX on December 17th, 2010.

The Joseph Kosinski-directed movie, which stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, will be digitally remastered to produce a super-sized version for IMAX theaters.

The film is set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Quorra (Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Disney has finally announced the fourth installment of “Pirates Of The Caribbean.” Film number-four will be titled “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and it will be released in the summer of 2011.

The company made the announcement with Johnny Depp at the D23 Expo. Johnny Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow, sailed onstage in a pirate ship. He staggered around the stage before hugging Walt Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook, who told the audience of 5,000 fans about the next instalment.

Guys over at Cinematical have some interesting information. Actually, there is a novel called “On Stranger Tides” about pirates written by Tim Powers.

“On Stranger Tides” is a fantasy book that won the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel in 1988 and was also nominated for The World Fantasy award.

In the book, originally published in 1988, the main character is also named Jack (Shandy) who tries to find the Fountain of Youth which was rumored title of the fourth installment.

Oren Aviv, Disney’s Head of Production, has confirmed that “Pirates of the Caribbean 4” will begin shooting next year with an anticipated release in 2011. The producer spoke to the guys over at ComingSoon.net at this year’s Comic Con about future Disney projects.

Burton’s Alice is almost like a sequel to the original Lewis Carroll’s story:

The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn’t remember.

The Princess and the Frog

The first and really beautiful poster for Disney‘s animated comedy “The Princess and the Frog” has been unveiled.

The movie marks the return to hand-drawn animation – the first from Disney in over four years – from directors John Musker and Ron Clements, with music by Oscar-winning composer Randy Newman (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Cars,” “Toy Story“). Clements and Musker previously worked together on Disney classics “Aladdin,” “Hercules,” and “Treasure Planet” and now they also wrote the script for the movie.
