Will Smith’s “I Am Legend” Prequel In Works

Will Smith will reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville and Francis Lawrence will return to direct.
The prequel will chronicle the final days of humanity in New York before a man-made virus caused a plague that left Smith’s character the lone survivor among a mutated mob in the city.
The studio has set DB Weiss to write a script that is based on a detailed outline that was hatched over the past few months by Smith, Akiva Goldsman, James Lassiter and Lawrence.

Will Smith Is The Last Pharaoh
Will Smith, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, will star in “The Last Pharaoh,” a historical epic from Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace, Variety reports.
The script is being written as a vehicle for Will Smith, who is the one that brought the story to Wallace, and has been interested in playing the pharaoh for quite a while. As well, it is worth noting that Wallace is the third screenwriter to be brought onto the project at Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment. The original script was written by “Devil in a Blue Dress” scribe Carl Franklin, with “Never Back Down” writer Chris Hauty being brought in to do some polishing earlier this year.
“Last Pharaoh” is said to resolve around the battle between Taharqa, a member of Egypt’s 25th dynasty, and Esarhaddon, Assyrian leader who seeks to invade Egypt. The war between the two ignited in 677 B.C. and lasted even until the death of Esarhaddon. Though this epic drama project is entitled “Last Pharaoh”, Taharqa was not the last Pharaoh of Egypt. In reality, the last Pharaoh is Cleopatra VII.
Smith next stars for Columbia in “Seven Pounds,” a re-team with “Pursuit of Happyness” director Gabriele Muccino that Overbrook produced with Escape Artists.
As of right now, there is no target start date for the project, but we will keep an eye out for you.

“Hancock” wins July 4th box-office race

“Hancock” Review
[Dark Horizons]Several years ago when “Hancock” was in development under the title “Tonight He Comes“, the script was frequently lauded as one of the most innovative, edgy and original works to have come through the pipeline in a long time.It seems a real shame then that the resulting film takes an admittedly strong concept and runs it into the ground with a cumbersome, crude and simply asinine superhero vehicle for star Will Smith. Smith delivers the goods where needed with his usual charm, but even his few fun lines can’t salvage this patchy wreckage which – even with its brief 92 minute runtime – feels severely overwrought in some areas, yet wholly inadequate in others.
The story starts off with the super powered John Hancock stopping a gang of thieves but with little care for the property destruction he causes in the process. The disgruntled alcoholic – who seems to carry a bottle around everywhere yet rarely drinks from it – ends up saving the life of no-luck PR guy Ray (Jason Bateman) who decides to help Hancock remake his image. However Ray’s wife (Charlize Theron) has a notable problem with Hancock being around.
Will Smith Wants Bollywood Film
The “Hancock” star Will Smith – who has made his name by landing lead roles in a series of big blockbuster action movies – thinks it is time to try his hand at a different genre.
After a visit to Agra with his son to see the Taj Mahal on Tuesday, Hollywood superstar Will Smith spent the next day catching up with Bollywood personalities.
He said:
“I’ve made a couple of speculative deals in India. We’ve got some Bolly-Will movies going on!”
There is a little bad news though. Will dismissed claims he is planning to make a follow-up to his hit movies “Bad Boys” and “Bad Boys 2“.
He added to T4 Sunday presenter Steve Jones:
“I probably won’t do that. There have been pitches, and the concept is genius for ‘Bad Boys 3’ but I’ve moved on now.”
It was recently reported Will had begged director Michael Bay to let him reprise his role for a third time because his son is such a big fan of the movies.
Will and Martin Lawrence starred in the first film in 1995, with the sequel being released eight years later.
“Hancock” New Photos
Take a look at the new official movie stills from the upcoming fantasy film “Hancock” by director Peter Berg and starring Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman.
With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake.
The public has finally had enough – as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn’t the kind of man who cares what other people think – until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock’s greatest challenge yet – and a task that may prove impossible as Ray’s wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), insists that he’s a lost cause.
