Will Smith in The Legend of Cain
Will Smith is attached to star and produce upcoming Old Testament-based project The Legend of Cain.
The film is already being described as “an epic re-telling of the murderous sibling rivalry in the book of Genesis”, only this time with some – vampiric twist, thanks to Caleeb Pinkett, Dan Knauf and Andrea Berloff who are behind the script.
So, the movie is a supposed ‘epic’ re-telling of the Biblical tale of parricide featuring brothers Cain and Abel.
In the original scriptures, Cain, a farmer, murdered his shepherd brother after God rejected his own offerings of crops but accepted the animal sacrifices of Abel. God marked him and punished him to wander the Earth.
Jemaine Clement in Men in Black 3
Jemaine Clement is in final negotiations to play one of the villains in Men in Black 3.
You can already start calling him Boris (another name that’s circling around is Yaz as well), because we have a rumor (and we repeat it again – rumor) that Clement will play a villain named Boris, described as a charmy and creepy villain.
He will (as we previously reported) join Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin in the film which will be released in 3D on May 25th, 2012.
So, we have two well-known members of a “black” team, Will Smith and Tomy Lee Jones, and now we have “charmy and creepy villain” Jemaine Clement, together with (finally confirmed) Josh Brolin who has come on board to play a young version of Tommy Lee Jones’s character from 1969.
Men in Black 3 to be Released in 2012, Will Smith Confirmed
Columbia Pictures has officially signed Will Smith for Men in Black 3. The studio has also already signed director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) and has scheduled to the 3D movie to open on May 25th, 2012.
Walter F. Parkes and Laurie McDonald are returning to produce with Steven Spielberg executive producing. Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) wrote the script, which underwent a polish by David Koepp (Spider-Man)..
According to the studio, Tommy Lee Jones is in advance negotiations to reprise his role as Agent Kay and Josh Brolin is in talks to star as a “young” Agent Kay.
Men In Black 3 In 3D
Men In Black 3 director Barry Sonnenfeld has confirmed Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones‘ involvement in the new sequel.
And, if you think that this is where the story ends, you are completely wrong, because this well-known filmmaker added that the movie will also be made in 3D and could be the big blockbuster release for May 2011 Memorial Day weekend.
Well, not big surprise. Actually, if you think a little bit, this could be one of the movies that just needs to be in 3D, since we all know what kind of UFO conspiracy theory it represents, right?
Martin Lawrence Says Bad Boys 3 is “Real”
During the press junket for Death at a Funeral, Martin Lawrence has revealed that he’s had a meeting with Will Smith and director Michael Bay about a potential third movie in the Bad Boys franchise.
“It’s real realistic,” the comedian revealed to MTV News, addressing rumors that he’ll re-team with Bay and the former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air once again. “We’ve talked about Bad Boys 3.”
Any time you can get Big Willie to come out and talk about doing a third installment of a hot movie like Bad Boys, you have to take notice,
Lawrence explained.
First Official “The Karate Kid” Photos: Jaden Smith & Jackie Chan
People Magazine has published the first official photos from Will Smith-produced remake of “The Karate Kid“. It features Jaden Smith as Dre Parker and Jackie Chan as Mr. Han.
Dre is a skateboarding video game buff who moves to China after his single mother is forced to go there for work. Unable to speak Chinese, Dre finds it hard to settle in, and gets beat up by the local bully. Mr. Han (Chan) is a maintenance man who spots his black-eye and offers to teach him both martial arts and Chinese, so he can defend against the students at the nearby school of kung-fu.
Will Smith To Star In “Flowers For Algernon” Remake?
Will Smith will probably star in and produce a remake of “Flowers For Algernon” an adaptation of Daniel Keyes 1959 novel of the same name which focuses on Charlie, a man with mental disabilities and a limited IQ who takes part in an experiment that turns him into a genius.
Charlie Gordon is a 37 year old man with an IQ of 68 who works as a cleaner…and all he wants in life is to be a genius.
Wanting to improve himself, Charlie attends reading and writing classes taught by Alice Kinnian.
Will Smith and Charlize Theron Confirmed for Hancock 2
Director Peter Berg has confirmed to MTV that Will Smith and Charlize Theron for “Hancock 2.” “Everybody’s going to come back for a sequel,” Berg said.
Adam Fierro (Dexter) and Glen Mazzara (The Shield) were hired to pen the sequel earlier this summer, but it was not confirmed whether any of the original cast would be involved.
The movie that opened last summer about a drunk superhero and a publicist trying to help restore his image turned out to be a pseudo Greek Mythology when it was revealed that Smith was actually a god that can become immortal and highly vulnerable in the presence of his goddess companion, played by Theron. Peter Berg previously talked to Sci-Fi Wire, basically saying that since the story indicates he’s not alone of his kind, they could bring in another god out there for the sequel.
Bad Boys 3 in the Works
Columbia Pictures is currently working on “Bad Boys 3.” Peter Craig is already working on a screenplay and third installment in the “Bad Boys” franchise will be Craig’s first major Hollywood screenplay.
According to THR, the studio is hoping that director Michael Bay, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will all return for the third film.
None of the four has signed a deal, but all parties have uttered their willingness to return if the people behind the project can come up with a story. However, with the popularity of Smith, Lawrence, Bay and Bruckheimer, it could be costly to get everyone on board.
