Brand New Fantastic Mr. Fox Featurette
Fox Searchlight just made a brand new featurette for “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” available giving us some clues as to how director Wes Anderson and his crew used old-school stop-motion animation to bring the Roald Dahl classic to life.
Plot summary: Mr and Mrs Fox (Clooney and Streep) live an idyllic home life with their son Ash (Schwartzman) and visiting young nephew Kristopherson (Eric Anderson). But after 12 years, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr Fox’s wild animal instincts. Soon he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief and in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community. Trapped underground and with not enough food to go around, the animals band together to fight against the evil Farmers – Boggis, Bunce and Bean – who are determined to capture the audacious, fantastic Mr Fox at any cost.
“Fantastic Mr. Fox” is both written and directed by the Oscar nominated filmmaker Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, Bottle Rocket, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited). Mr. Fox, Mrs. Fox, and all their fox babies live under a hill under a tree, along with Badger, Rabbit, Weasel, and all of their families. To make ends meet, every night, Mr. Fox steals a meal from one of the three crooked farmers–Boggis, a chicken farmer, Bunce, who has a little bit of everything but only eats duck liver, and Bean, who farms turkeys and apples and subsists solely on apple cider. With his keen sense of smell, and the farmers’ distinctive diets, Mr. Fox has no problem evading them.

The Vampire’s Assistant Poster
Cinematical has debuted the official teaser poster for “The Vampire’s Assistant,” the movie based on the book series of the same name by Darren Shan.
Synopsis: “The Vampire’s Assistant,” previously known as “Cirque du Freak” tells the frightening tale of a boy who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares.
14-year-old Darren (Chris Kelly) was like most kids in his suburban neighborhood. He hung out with his best friend, got decent grades and usually stayed out of trouble. But when he and his buddy stumble upon a traveling freak show, things begin to change inside Darren. That’s the exact moment when a vampire named Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly) turns him into something, well, bloodthirsty.
Newly undead, he joins the Cirque Du Freak, a touring sideshow filled with monstrous creatures from a snakeboy and a wolfman to a bearded lady (Salma Hayek) and a gigantic barker (Ken Watanabe). As Darren flexes his newfound powers in this dark world, he becomes a treasured pawn between the vampires and their deadlier counterparts. And while trying to survive, one boy will struggle to keep their brewing war from devouring what’s left of his humanity.
The film is directed by Paul Weitz (American Pie, Down to Earth, In Good Company, About a Boy), stars John C. Reilly (Magnolia, Chicago, The Aviator, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story), Ray Stevenson, Josh Hutcherson, Salma Hayek, Willem Dafoe and Ken Watanabe.
