Robin Hood Super Bowl TV Spot
Universal Pictures has released the upcoming Super Bowl TV spot/trailer for Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood” on Yahoo.
The movie began development in 2007 when Universal acquired a script entitled Nottingham, depicting a heroic Sheriff of Nottingham to be played by Crowe. Director Ridley Scott’s dissatisfaction with the script led him to delay filming, and during 2008 it was rewritten into a story about Robin Hood becoming an outlaw, with the position of being Sheriff as part of the story. Scott dropped the latter notion and Nottingham was retitled to reflect the more traditional angle.
The film stars Oscar winners Russell Crowe as Robin Hood and Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian, Matthew Macfadyen as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Danny Huston as King Richard, Mark Strong as Sir Godfrey, William Hurt as William Marshall and Scott Grimes as Will Scarlet.
International Robin Hood Movie Trailer

We got our first trailer for Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood” last week and now Yahoo! released a new international trailer and it’s better than the first one.
Oscar winner Russell Crowe stars as the titular character, alongside Oscar winner Cate Blanchett (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) as the lovely Maid Marion and co-stars Vanessa Redgrave, William Hurt (The Incredible Hulk, Mr. Brooks), Mark Strong (Kick-Ass, Sherlock Holmes), Kevin Durand, Saoirse Ronan and Scott Grimes.
Crowe plays the expert archer Robin Hood who leads a band of marauders to confront corruption and lead an uprising against the English crown. In an effort to save the village of Nottingham and win the hand of the spirited widow Lady Marion (Blanchett), this hero rises from humble beginnings to become an eternal symbol of freedom for his people.

Ralph Fiennes’ Directorial Debut Coriolanus
Ralph Fiennes will make his directorial debut with an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Roman tragedy “Coriolanus.” Fiennes will also play the title role, Roman general Caius Martius – Coriolanus.
Fiennes will direct from the script by John Logan (“Gladiator,” “The Aviator,” “The Last Samurai,” “Sweeney Todd“).
“People who have read it think it’s a page-turner,” said Fiennes. “I want it to be an edge-of-the-seat film.”
Fiennes, who was Oscar-nominated for his roles in “The English Patient” and “Schindler’s List,” said he wanted to make Shakespeare accessible, citing Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet as an influence.
“I don’t want it to be in that Shakespeare voice that puts you off,” he told trade paper Screen International at the Cannes Films Festival. “Audiences want to hear Shakespeare and they understand more than they think they are going to. The second film I ever saw was Olivier’s Henry V when I was nine years old and I loved it.”
William Hurt, Vanessa Redgrave and Jessica Chastain have joined Fiennes. Redgrave will take the role of Coriolanus’ mother Volumnia, while Chastain plays his wife Virgilia.
The adaptation of Shakespeare’s study of the way power corrupts is set in the early years of the Roman Republic. Coriolanus, who returns from war and is urged by his mother Volumnia (Redgrave) to run for consul, but his ambition leads to his downfall.
Shakespeare’s “Coriolanus” is one of his most politically challenging examinations of the way power corrupts. In the aftermath of a famine, the people demand the right to set their own price for the city’s grain. In response to their protests, the ruling aristocracy grant the plebeians five representatives, a decision that provokes the ire of Caius Martius, who has nothing but contempt for the lower classes. After winning a war against a neighboring tribe, he is granted the name Coriolanus, and returns with the hope of joining the Senate.
Shooting will begin in Serbia in early 2010.
Christian Bale as Robin Hood in Ridley Scott’s ”Nottingham”?

If Bale takes on the role, he will be part of a menage a trois that also includes Russell Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham and Sienna Miller as Maid Marion.
While Bale hasn’t signed on just yet, Scott is very eager to cast the actor in the role.
Wardrobe fittings begin next week, so expect an announcement about Bale’s involvement to come out before then.
Vanessa Redgrave and William Hurt are also in discussions about being in the film.

As it turns out, the rumors were indeed true.
During “The Incredible Hulk” panel at the New York Comic-Con, director Louis Leterrier and actor Tim Roth showed some footage from the film that had Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) walk into a bar where General “Thunderbolt” Ross (William Hurt) is getting drunk. Below is what’s said in the footage:
Stark: “It smells like stale beer in here.”
Ross: “You always have such nice suits.”
Star: “I hear you have a little problem.” (talking about the Hulk)
This news comes after “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau commented on “The Avengers,” stating that the film will eventually happen and that Downey would return to reprise his role.
