William Monahan to Adapt Oblivion for Director Joseph Kosinski
The Departed screenwriter, William Monahan will be in charge for writing the script for the graphic novel turned feature from Radical Publishing.
Of course, we are talking about the Oblivion movie, which will be directed by Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski and you must admit that this already sounds like the great team.
Oblivion is “a futuristic science fiction love story that takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where most people live above the clouds, far from the “inhospitable place” that the surface of Earth has become.
An earthbound soldier who repairs drones that patrol and destroy a savage alien race discovers a beautiful woman who crashed in a craft. They take an epic adventure that changes his world view.”

Yes, we do know that he is the Oscar-winning screenwriter of The Departed, but this is his first movie, and one reason more for us to chat about his upcoming London-based crime drama.
So, they already describe this as crime-drama-romance film. No wonder when we have this kind of synopsis: “Mitchell is finally free after a stint in prison for assault. Edge of Darkness Review
“Edge of Darkness” is directed by Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale,” “Mask of Zorro”) who, interestingly enough, is remaking the film from an award-winning six-hour BBC miniseries he directed 25 years ago.
Campbell is working from a screenplay adapted from that series by two seasoned scribes: William Monohan (“The Departed,” another remake transplanted to Boston) and Andrew Bovell (who brought similar, moody twist-turning to 2001′s underrated “Lantana”).

Leonardo DiCaprio To Star In Mel Gibson’s Viking Movie
Leonardo DiCaprio will star in Mel Gibson‘s untitled period drama about Viking culture. This will be DiCaprio’s first picture with Gibson.
Gibson will direct from the script by William Monahan.
The principals confirmed the project but would not divulge many details. DiCaprio, who has long been fascinated by Viking culture, will play one in a storyline that will be as unsparing as Gibson’s other period directing efforts, “Braveheart,” “The Passion of the Christ” and “Apocalypto.” [Variety]
“This will be an awe-inspiring story, created with some of the industry’s finest cinematic talent, and I am just over the moon to be making this film with Mel, Leo and Bill,” producer Graham King said in a statement.

William Monahan To Adapt John Grisham’s THE ASSOCIATE
William Monahan who wrote script for “The Departed” will adapt John Grisham‘s bestselling thriller “The Associate” for Paramount.
The studio acquired rights to the novel late last year. Lorenzo di Bonaventura who is producing and Shia LaBeouf sparked to the notion of doing it together after reading the book in galley form while they were on the set of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”
LaBeouf will play a Yale Law School student with a sordid secret that leaves him vulnerable to blackmail. He’s manipulated into taking a job at a law firm and working on a multibillion-dollar lawsuit.
Keira Knightley and Colin Farrell In London Boulevard
Keira Knightley and Colin Farrell have both signed on to star in “London Boulevard,” a crime drama that marks William Monahan‘s directing debut. Monahan, who won an Oscar for “The Departed” as screenwriter, adapted the Ken Bruen novel from 2001.
Farrell, who just won a Golden Globe for “In Bruges,” will play a South London criminal named Mitchell, who after release from prison tries to give up the gangster life and goes to work as a handyman for a reclusive actress (Keira Knightley).
