Hugh Jackman Developing Wolverine 2

Posted by Allan Ford 5 May, 2009 (2) Comment

Hugh Jackman - WolverineVariety confirms recent rumors that Hugh Jackman is now in development on a sequel to the weekend hit “X-Men Origins: Wolverine“. With Wolverine earning $87 million in the US and $160 million combined in its opening weekend, 20th Century Fox has already given the go for the sequel to be made.

No writer has been hired but the sequel is expected the focus on the Logan in Japan samurai storyline from the comic book series.

Jackman previously spoke of the Japanese saga from the comic book.

“There are so many areas of that Japanese story,” he said. “I love the idea of this kind of anarchic character, the outsider, being in this world – I can see it aesthetically, too – full of honor and tradition and customs and someone who’s really anti-all of that, and trying to negotiate his way. The idea of the samurai, too – and the tradition there. It’s really great. In the comic book he gets his ass kicked by a couple of samurai – not even mutants. He’s shocked by that at first.”

Hugh Jackman has a very busy future. It was announced yesterday that Jackman will star in Ghostopolis for Disney. The movie, based on Doug TenNapel’s graphic novel, will see the actor playing a ghosthunter who traps ghosts for the Supernatural Immigration Task Force. But when a human boy is accidentally sent to the other side, Jackman must team with a former flame – now a ghost – to bring the boy back to our world.

In addition, Jackman will star in Personal Security for Fox about a police detective who is forced into bodyguard duty for a spoiled teen heiress who is receiving kidnapping threats. Jackman will also produce.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

X-Men Origins: Wolverine kicks off the summer of 2009 not with a bang, but a semi-enthusiastic, ‘could have been better but it’s okay enough for an action film if that’s all it aspires to be’ whimper. Whimper’s not exactly the right word as that implies Wolverine completely sucks. It doesn’t. The action is eye-popping and in your face and the acting is spot on. Hugh Jackman does everything possible to make this fourth X-Men movie sparkle, but the story lets our mutant hero down…read more [about.com]

A lot of people have complained about the entire story being a mess. I don’t need my X-Men movies to have the most fat-free, streamlined story arcs. But that comes with being a fan of the comic, and there were a ton of back issues mined for source material in the film. They tried to fit in a lot, and maybe to the film’s detriment in the eyes of Joseph Campbell purists. But I want my X-Men flicks crammed with Mutants, and we get a lot of ‘em we haven’t seen before: Blob, Wraith, Emma Frost, Agent Zero, and then a couple of guys known as Deadpool and Gambit. (Not necessarily a good thing in the case of the latter.)…read more [Screen Junkies]

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Three New TV Spots

Posted by Fiona 28 April, 2009 (1) Comment

As we know, an unfinished workprint of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” somehow leaked onto the web. But watching the trailers, clips and TV spots I think the movie is worth watching and I hope it will have great success with secret endings or without them.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Director Gavid Hood said he and the studio have created multiple secret endings (scenes after the credits) that will show up on different prints. That means that your favorite theater could be playing “Wolverine” with an ending that’s different from the ending being shown at a theater across town.
Hood also compared the theatrical version to the leaked one, stating that the leaked one has 400 unfinished visual effects shots, unfinished sound mixing and unfinished coloring.
Take a look at three new TV spots for the movie below.

An Australian visual effects company has denied leaking an unfinished workprint of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” one month before its release.

The superhero prequel was downloaded an estimated 100,000 times from file-sharing networks before it was detected and removed. It is not scheduled for release until May 1 in the US.

The company’s name “Rising Sun Pictures” appears in a caption dated March 2 a few minutes into the high-quality leaked copy of the 20th Century Fox superhero movie.

Rising Sun Pictures chairman and co-founder Tony Clark said in a statement posted on the company’s Web site Thursday:

“As we worked on individual sequences within the film, neither Rising Sun Pictures or its staff members have ever been in possession of a full-length version, so it would have been impossible for the movie to have been leaked from here”

According to Rising Sun Pictures’ Web site, the visual effects company had been tasked with producing “a number of key effects sequences” in “Wolverine.” Rising Sun Pictures is also working on the upcoming “Terminator Salvation” film and had previously created effects for “Watchmen,” ”Australia,” ”Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Get Smart.”

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” Workprint Leaks Online – Update!

Posted by Allan Ford 2 April, 2009 (3) Comment

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Pirated

We’ve alredy posted that X-Men Origins: Wolverine” somehow leaked onto the web. This will obviously cost 20th Century Fox millions of dollars in ticket sales, according to BBC News. The superhero prequel was downloaded an estimated 100,000 times from file-sharing websites before it was detected and removed.

In a statement, 20th Century Fox said:

“Last night, a stolen, incomplete and early version of ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ was posted illegally on websites. It was without many effects and had missing scenes and temporary sound and music. We immediately contacted the appropriate legal authorities and had it removed. We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it.

The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law – the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts and the last person who committed such a crime is still in jail.

The FBI and the MPAA also are actively investigating this crime. We are encouraged by the support of fansites condemning piracy and this illegal posting and pointing out that such theft undermines the enormous efforts of the filmmakers and actors, and above all, hurts the fans of the film.”

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” will open in U.S. theaters on May 1, 2009.

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” Workprint Leaks Online

Posted by Allan Ford 1 April, 2009 (1) Comment

wolverine pirated

According to HitFix, workprint of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” has allegedly leaked online.

The movie won’t hit theaters until May 1st, 2009 and bad news for 20th Century Fox, people can now watch the workprint on several kinds of websites out there.

The bootleg is purportedly a DVD quality video of the Fox blockbuster without a timecode or studio watermark, but with several visual effects shots unfinished.

The only missing elements to the pirated copy seems to be scenes from director Gavin Hood’s recent reshoots of the film, which, according to actor Hugh Jackman, was the result of scheduling conflicts with the cast/crew, and not problems with the movie itself.

At the moment, Fox Legal is no doubt sending their legal troops throughout the web trying to pull the movie down, but at this point, gentlemen, good luck.
