A few weeks ago we shared an official trailer and some pretty cool images from George Clooney‘s upcoming dramatic thriller The Monuments Men, which is set to hit theaters this December. Now, we’re back to add the very first poster to our little gallery and take another look at the greatest art heist in history. Head inside to check it out…
Clooney co-wrote the script with Grant Heslov, which is based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, and revolves around a crew of art historians and museum curators who unite to recover renowned works of art stolen by Nazis before Hitler destroys them.
The Monuments Men is set to hit theaters on December 18th, 2013, and as you already know, the movie has an awesome cast on board which (beside Clooney) includes Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville and John Goodman.
For those of you who may have missed the official synopsis:
An unlikely World War II platoon is tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.
