12 YEARS A SLAVE Reveals New Featurette With Chiwetel Ejiofor & Michael Fassbender

12 YEARS A SLAVE Hey guys, check out this great new featurette from Steve McQueen‘s upcoming Twelve Years a Slave, which is set to hit theaters next month. You already know what that means – more footage from a movie which is based on an incredible story of one man’s fight for survival and freedom. Head inside to see a portrait of Solomon Northup, and learn the true story of the free man who was captured and sold into slavery… We will once again remind you that McQueen directed the whole thing from a script written by John Ridley, which is based on Northup’s autobiography of the same name. The movie stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, a free black man from upstate New York who, in the pre-Civil War United States, is abducted and sold into slavery. He worked on plantations in the state of Louisiana for 12 years before his release. [jwplayer mediaid=”169422″] Here’s the rest of the story:
Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner) as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist forever alters his life.
12 Years a Slave has an awesome cast on board which, beside Ejiofor, also includes Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Paul Giamatti, Scoot McNairy, Lupita Nyong’o, Adepero Oduye, Sarah Paulson, Brad Pitt, Michael Kenneth Williams, and more. The movie is scheduled to premiere this month at Toronto International Film Festival, and then is set to hit limited theaters on October 18th, 2013.
