Rachel Weisz Joins MAPS TO THE STARS

Nick Martin November 8, 2012 Add a Comment
Rachel Weisz According to French site Allocine, Rachel Weisz has joined Robert Pattinson and Viggo Mortensen in David Cronenberg's long-gestating Maps to the Stars. However, deals still need to be signed for all three thesps. Cronenberg previously explained the project completely different from Cosmopolis, as ‘ very acerbic and satirical':
You could say it's a Hollywood film because the characters are agents, actors and managers, but it is not a satire like ‘The Player.' Hollywood is a world that is seductive and repellent at the same time, and it is the combination of the two that makes it so potent. I won't fall back on some clichés or simplistic sloganeering, because the culture and what it reveals about Western culture and the rest of the world is very complex.
Maps to the Stars is a Bruce Wagner-penned film which revolves around actors and agents, with a specific focus on ‘two child actors ruined by Hollywood's depravity.' The film is supposed to be Canada's best-known cinematographer first production shot on U.S. soil, as the story is set in Los Angeles with production to begin in May next year. It will be interesting to see if Mortensen, Pattinson, and Weisz serve as a good start for Maps to the Stars. Sounds like a great cast. Mortensen - Cronenberg David Cronenberg - Robert Pattinson
