Sean Penn Eyeing PRONE GUNMAN

Nick Martin November 13, 2012 Add a Comment
Sean Penn - Prone Gunman The Oscar-winning thesp Sean Penn is set to jump into his own potential movie franchise, the action thriller genre movie called Prone Gunman. The film is an adaptation of Jean-Patrick Manchette's novel about an international operative Martin Terrier betrayed by the organization he works for, and  led on a cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. Pete Travis (Dredd 3D) reportedly adapted the screenplay, but there is no director yet attached. The French novelist was known for renewing the generic procedure with a Leftist and existentialist spin on noir, exploring the lethal hitman effects on the human condition. Well, exploring politics with a leftist slant is something Penn would connect with and bring the existentialist touch to the world of espionage as well. After all, age of actors is no longer a barrier to success in the action genre. Well-known for his left-wing political and social activism, the 52-year-old actor recently starred in The Tree of Life and This Must Be the Place and can next be seen in Ruben Fleischer's period crime movie Gangster Squad, hitting theaters on January 11th, 2013. Here's the book description:
Martin Terrier is a hired killer who wants out of the game—so he can settle down and marry his childhood sweetheart. After all, that's why he took up this profession! But the Organization won't let him go: they have other plans. Once again, the gunman must assume the prone shooting position. A tour de force, this violent tale shatters as many illusions about life and politics as bodies.
