3 AVATAR Sequels Get Writers And Year-After-Year Releases

Nick Martin September 4, 2013 1 comment
Avatar-Movie James Cameron and 20th Century Fox have announced that Avatar movie series will now be a quadrology instead of a trilogy, with the number of sequels growing from two to three. Avatar 2, 3, and 4 will open December 2016, December 2017, and December 2018. Moreover, Cameron said he had hired writers to collaborate with him on scripts for the upcoming films. The newly hired screenwriters are War Of The Worlds scribe Josh Friedman, Shane Salerno who previously worked with Cameron on a remake of Fantastic Voyage at Fox and the team of Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (Rise of Planet of the Apes). Cameron said in the press release:
Building upon the world we created with AVATAR has been a rare and incredibly rewarding experience. In writing the new films, I've come to realize that AVATAR's world, story and characters have become even richer than I anticipated, and it became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen. And to help me continue to expand this universe, I'm pleased to bring aboard Amanda, Rick, Shane and Josh — all writers I've long admired -¬ to join me in completing the films screenplays.
Fox CEO Jim Gianopulos added:
We at the studio have no higher priority, and can feel no greater joy, than enabling Jim to continue and expand his vision of the world of AVATAR. The growing breadth and scale of Jim Cameron's plans for his magnificent fantasy worlds continue to amaze us all.
Avatar made $2.7 billion at the worldwide box office when it was released back in 2009. If Peter Jackson can do it so can Mr. Cameron. Stay tuned. Avatar

    Hey okay, will do well.
    Avatar is a classic.
They should make part 4, 5 and 6.
    It’s the best.
