Josh Brolin Confirms He Was Up For SUPERMAN VS BATMAN

Josh Brolin-Batman Rumors

Josh Brolin confirmed that he was indeed in the running to play the new Caped Crusader in the upcoming Zack Snyder‘s Man Of Steel sequel. The No Country for Old Men actor doesn't have any hard feelings about it.

Brolin confirmed that some form of discussion did indeed take place, saying:

We did. I didn't have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea. It just didn't turn out. It's OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I'm happy for Ben.

He also expressed nothing but sympathy for Ben Affleck and commented on the fan outrage over his casting::

I want him to kick ass and I want everyone to love it and kind of eat their words.

‘Batfleck' has been the target of an epic online backlash ever since the casting was announced. Brolin who does seem to fit Snyder's idea for an older Batman, added:

I've never seen such a global reaction in my life. I feel for him, truly. I would not want to be him right now. The reaction becomes so personal. It's like, ‘Fuck this guy, I wish he was dead.' And you're like, ‘What? Dude, seriously? This guy is just working like you are. He's doing the same thing you are. He's trying to make the best choices he can.'

Snyder indeed has said that the Batman plot in Man of Steel 2 is loosely based on Frank Miller's 1986 comic ‘Batman: The Dark Knight Returns,' in which Batman is a bit older and more angry. Maybe he wanted Brolin, but Warner Bros. wanted Affleck.

Is that how you interpreted Brolin's reply?

Man of Steel follow-up will start filming in Detroit and throughout the state of Michigan sometime in the first quarter of 2014 in anticipation of the film's July 17th, 2015 release date.
