Steven Spielberg Close to Direct Moses Film GOD AND KINGS

Steven Spielberg

Multiple Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg has so many projects on his plate. His two films are set to be released in North American theaters this December – 3-D animated movie, The Adventures of Tintin, as well as War Horse that will be released just five days after The Adventures, on December 25th, 2011. Favorite helmer's announced projects include Lincoln, starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field that is already underway in Richmond, Virginia. After that, Spielberg will start shooting a film of Daniel H. Wilson's novel Robopocalypse. But the news is that the Warner Bros. studio and Spielberg are now in formal talks for him to take on the project of the Bible's size – Moses-centric epic Gods and King. The film told Moses' entire life story from his birth all the way through death, which would include the story of his awakening to the troubles of the Hebrew slaves that led Moses' struggle against the Pharaoh for their freedom out of Egypt, the Ten Plagues, the Burning Bush, the daring escape across the Red Sea, receiving the Ten Commandments, and delivering them to Israel. The mammoth film, written by Michael Green and Stuart Hazeldine and based on the Book of Exodus and other stories from the Old Testament, will be big so WB has been eyeing Spielberg for a while. It sounds like a historical drama qualifies for awards season, something with which Spielberg has plenty of projects in the pipeline. There's still a place a deal might not come together, so stay tuned to see if Spielberg will be parting the Red Sea. Cecil B. Demille's 1956, 220 minutes Moses epic, The Ten Commandments is still quite a challenge.
