Armie Hammer Joins THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.

Nick Martin April 25, 2013 Add a Comment
Armie Hammer Post-Lone Ranger Armie Hammer will be joining Tom Cruise in the upcoming film The Man from U.N.C.L.E. ,  a remake of the 1960s television series about the two top agents of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement. The Mission: Impossible star would be playing Napoleon Solo in the Guy Ritchie's new version of the espionage-focused TV series which James Bond creator Ian Fleming contributed early concepts. It looks like Hammer will be playing the other half, the updated take on Soviet agent Illya Kuryakin, one of two agents who fought against the evil organization known as T.H.R.U.S.H.. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. adaptation for Warner Bros. previously had Steven Soderbergh set to direct with George Clooney starring, but things didn't work out and Ritchie stepped in. Cruise's casting gave the project new life and saved Ritchie from leaving to take on a different project instead. Not very easy to get these two actors in frame together, bearing in mind Cruise is notoriously short, while Hammer typically towers over his co-stars. All jokes aside, the film still has a screenplay by Scott Z. Burns, but we don't have much more info than that about what the script entails. Cruise's Oblivion, is currently in theaters, while Hammer will next be seen in Disney's The Lone Ranger opposite Johnny Depp. Man from U.N.C.L.E.
