A first look featurette for ‘
Batman Gotham Knight‘ — a 2008 animated direct-to-DVD anthology film of six animated short films set in-between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight — has turned up on YouTube. You can watch the featurette below.
Batman Gotham Knight is the third in the DC Universe Animated Original Movie line released by Warner Premiere and Warner Bros. Animation. The shorts will take place before the start of The Dark Knight, and arrive on DVD later this year.
Directed by Bruce Timm, co-creator and producer of Batman: The Animated Series, the film’s six segments are written by Josh Olson, David Goyer, Brian Azzarello, Greg Rucka, Jordan Goldberg, and Alan Burnett.
Each segment has its own writing and artistic style, just as numerous artists work in the same DC Universe. Deadshot, Killer Croc, and the Scarecrow have all been confirmed to appear in the film. Also, the trailer for the film features a creature that looks like giant bat, possibly Man-Bat.
Overall, the series has an adult look and feel that lends itself well to the darker, more foreboding nature of the character, as originally intended.
