Ben Affleck and Matt Damon Reunite for Joe Carnahan’s Crime Thriller ‘RIP’ on Netflix

And the powerhouse duo of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon is back on screen together, although this time in the auteur stylings of Joe Carnahan in his gritty crime thriller, RIP. The film recently won over Netflix as a distributor, looking to debut in 2025. Filming is now underway in Los Angeles and what's shaping up to be a high stakes story of deception and trust.

Carnahan's cast already is star-studded with the addition of The Flash star Sasha Calle and A Thousand and One actress Teyana Taylor joining Affleck and Damon. RIP revolves around a group of cops in Miami who, realizing there are millions in a ‘stolen' stash house, start to unravel their relationships and loyalties. And the news of the seizure goes on, with each character under ever increasing external pressure in ways that test their trust and integrity.

Keeping busy in the meantime, Affleck pushed back his next directorial endeavor Animals (which he was attached to) but is working on RIP, for which he's tied up with additional filming on The Accountant 2. It's another exciting partnership with him and Damon for Mark, a reunion for their long-standing on screen chemistry.

RIP is old hat for Carnahan, who's tapped into familiar territory. Carnahan is a master of gritty action films, such as Smokin' Aces and Narc, at making intense, pulpy thrillers. RIP, however, gives Carnahan the opportunity to elevate his story beyond action lover to crime drama enthusiast.

RIP is building some serious anticipation for the film's 2025 Netflix release date and looks to be one of the most exciting crime thrillers over the next few years. Tension filled action is in the hands of a director that knows how to keep the viewer on edge and its impressive cast is already turning heads in Hollywood.
