BLADE RUNNER Sequel Gets Green Latern Scribe

Nick Martin June 2, 2013 Add a Comment
Blade Runner-Michael Green Blade Runner is still happening, based on a first draft by Hampton Fancher who penned the 1982 original with Michael Green in negotiations to do a rewrite of Alcon Entertainment's new sequel to be directed by Ridley Scott. Last year, Scott talked up the movie, with news that Fancher is on board to scribe the story that will take place some years after the first film concluded. Now comes word that one of the credited writers on Green Lantern, Green is moving from superheroes to replicant… oh scrap! Green has also scripted superhero projects The Flash and Fantastic Four that Warner Bros. have been slowly developing, and co-wrote the Moses movie Gods and Kings that Steven Spielberg was once attached to direct, as well as he recently completed rewrites on Robopocalypse. Scott will reportedly return to direct the sequel (prequel), and he's courting Harrison Ford to reprise his role as Rick Deckard, although last year Prometheus director said:
I don't think it'll be Harry starring. But I've got to have him in it somewhere. That'd be amusing.
Alcon is also working on and producing Blade Runner theatrical sequels and prequels, in addition to all TV and interactive productions, so Blade Runner 2 may just be the tip of the sci-fi iceberg. In the original film, which was nominated for two Academy Awards, Rutger Hauer played the leader of ‘a group of escaped ‘replicants' — genetically engineered androids used for work on Earth's off-world colonies — who are hiding out in 2019 Los Angeles. Ford's character is a ‘blade runner,' a police officer who kills replicants when necessary. Blade Runner
