Despite
last week's headline on the Rolling Stone front page that ‘
Breaking Bad' star
Bryan Cranston had already signed on for a six-movie deal to play Lex Luthor for Warner Bros., the actor denied that rumor in a recent interview with The Boston Globe.
The three-time Emmy winner laughed:
Six? This is all news to me. I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I'm known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?' The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.
Asked whether he'd consider calling Gene Hackman for advice if he picked up the role, he replied:
I can just see how that phone call would go. ‘Gene? Hi, this is Bryan Cranston.' ‘Who? Bryan Cranston? What do you want? How did you get this number?'
Obviously, his mind is on other, non-
Superman-related projects (he'll direct another episode of ABC's Modern Family), but that doesn't mean that he's not being considered for the role of Superman's nemesis.
Another rumor that
Mark Strong is likely going to reprise his
Green Lantern role as Sinestro in
Batman vs. Superman has not been confirmed by Warner Bros. Seems like a lot of hooey, is what it is.
Zack Snyder is directing the tentatively titled
Batman vs. Superman from a script by
David S. Goyer.
Ben Affleck coming on as Batman,
Henry Cavill will return as Clark Kent/Superman, with
Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and
Diane Lane also reprising their roles.
Man of Steel 2 comes to theaters July 17th, 2015.
Who do you want to play Lex Luthor?
