The Wrap has some more exclusive casting news. Now it’s time for some tidbits and details about Cameron Diaz who has entered early talks to re-team with her Bad Teacher helmer Jake Kasdan and co-star Jason Segel for the new comedy titled Sex Tape.
Diaz was in the mix for female leads when Kasdan boarded the project last April, but now negotiations are taking place with a deal in the near future.
The film has been caught in pre-production limbo for quite some time because Segel’s been attached to star since 2011, when his Muppets director Nicholas Stoller was in talks to helm with Reese Witherspoon initially named as Sony’s top pick, and Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Rose Byrne, and Jennifer Garner also in the mix.
The Black List script by Kate Angelo (The Back-Up Plan) follows
a married couple who take a night off from their kids and decide to spice up their love life by making a sex tape. When they wake up the next morning, the tape is missing, prompting them to figure out who took it and how to get it back.
Diaz will next be seen in the Coen Bros.-scripted remake of Gambit with Colin Firth, and then Ridley Scott’s The Counselor with Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt. She’ll soon start filming Nick Cassavetes’ comedy The Other Woman with Leslie Mann and Kate Upton.
