We already shared the first trailer for Xavier Dolan‘s upcoming Laurence Anyways and I’m sure you loved it.
Today, we’re here to share two great new images from the whole thing, because, let me remind you, Dolan’s movie will compete at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, in Un Certain Regard section!
Totally interesting project, quite different from the rest of the stories that will compete for the main prize.
As we previously reported, the whole thing is set in 1989, where we have Laurence, man who on his 30th birthday reveals his secret desire to become a woman.
Two new images show us Laurence and his girlfriend, who is shocked by the news of course, but still agrees to stay by his side. The other image shows Laurence as he goes back to working as a professor where he teaches literature – only this time as a woman.
A new life begins, but the weight of social stigma, family rejection and the incompatibility of the couple become toxic.
Great performance from the leading star – Melvil Poupad, while the rest of the cast includes Nathalie Baye, Suzanne Clement and Monia Chokri.
The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 16-27. We wish Dolan and his team a lot of success!
