Get ready for Fox's upcoming
Wayward Pines project, because some seriously good cast is on board for this so-called thriller in the vein of Twin Peaks.
We've just learned that lovely
Carla Gugino has booked a leading role in the 10-episode drama which is based on Blake Crouch's best-selling novel of the same name.
Let me first inform you that
M. Night Shyamalan is on board to direct (and executive produce) the project from the script written by
Chad Hodge.
The story centers on a Secret Service agent named Ethan Burke who arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, Idaho, on a mission to find two missing federal agents.
But instead of answers, Ethan's investigation only turns up more questions. Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.
In case you're not familiar with the previously announced cast, we will remind you that
Matt Dillon is already set to play the above mentioned agent Ethan, while
Melissa Leo is also starring as Nurse Pam, who first takes care of Ethan when he wakes up in the Wayward Pines hospital.
As for Gugino, she jumps in to play Ethan's ex-partner and a resident of Wayward Pines: smart, capable, loyal, fiery, blunt and fearless lady named Kate Hewson. And you already guess the rest of the story: the love that Kate and Ethan once shared is still alive.
Wayward Pines is set to debut in the 2014 part of next season, and as usual – we'll keep an eye on it, so make sure you stay tuned!
