All in all, cast is really starting the shape up for MGM's upcoming remake of the cult classic horror film
Carrie.
Kimberley Peirce (Boys Don't Cry) is directing the adaptation of the famed horror novelist
Stephen King's debut novel, which already stars
Chloe Moretz in the title role with
Julianne Moore playing Carrie's psychotic mother.
Now, it looks like some of Carrie's high school classmates and tormentors are in the process of being cast, with
Ivana Baquero (Pan's Labyrinth) and
Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) having recently joined.
If the character names and roles are being carried over from the original, Baquero has been cast as the bad girl Chris Hargensen, whose cruel prank turns out to be the straw that breaks the telekinetic loner camel's back; Wilde has been officially tapped to play Sue Snell, who initially picks on Carrie, but later tries to atone for it by arranging for Carrie to attend the prom.
In addition,
Judy Greer (The Village) is in talks to play the Gym Teacher who is there for Carrie's traumatic pelting with feminine hygiene products in the gym and who might be the only encouraging figure in Carrie's life in the original.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Big Love) script version of Carrie also stars
Ansel Elgort and
Alex Russell.

The reboot is scheduled to debut on March 15th, 2013.
