Clip from Julian Pölsler’s THE WALL Premiered at Berlinale 2012

The Wall Julian Pölsler‘s latest psychological drama The Wall opens in limited theaters today, so as usual – we're here to share the first clip from the whole thing with you. As you're about to see from this short video, the story looks pretty intense although it mainly focuses on the nameless woman who's left alone with her own thoughts for years in the Austrian Alps. Check her out! Based on Marlen Haushofer's classic novel, The Wall story is set in the Austrian mountains and revolves around the above mentioned nameless woman, played by German actress Martina Gedeck, who's left alone with her own thoughts for years in the Austrian Alps. Traveling to a hunting lodge with two friends who, soon after arriving, go on a walk to town and never return, she searches for her companions only to discover that an invisible wall, humming like an electric fence, blocks her from continuing down the main road and reaching a neighbor's cottage—cutting her off, in effect, from human civilization. Or, as the leading star Gedeck revealed: “I pity animals and I pity people, because they are thrown into this life without being consulted. Maybe people are more deserving of pity, because they have just enough intelligence to resist the natural course of things.” The Wall is the winner of Ecumenical jury prize at the 2012 Berlinale, and beside Gedeck, also stars Karl Heinz Hackl and Ulrike Beimpold. Let us know what you think about the clip, and stay tuned for more!
