I'm confused. Why would anyone normal refuse to accept an offer to play a role in
Spike Lee‘s upcoming remake of Park Chan-wook's
Old Boy?
Well, ask
Colin Firth that question, maybe he has some good reason!
Ok, we do know that Firth will be quite busy with
The Railway Man but is that the real reason why he turned down Lee's offer to play the villain role in this second adaptation of the Korean manga series? We can only guess.
In case you forgot, Old Boy story centers on a man who is abducted and imprisoned for 15 years, after which he's inexplicably released and sent on a hunt to track down those responsible for his imprisonment.
Mark Protosevich is responsible for the script and he's used both Park's movie and the original manga for his story.
On the other hand, producer Roy Lee previously revealed that the remake will add “new elements, new characters and new situations” to the story.
Just for a record, the movie already has
Josh Brolin on board as the lead.
Anybody disappointed with Firt's decision?
