Back in March, if memory serves, news broke that
Arnold Schwarzenegger who served as the 38th Governor of California from 2003 until 2011 – now on the comeback to film industry after leaving the governor's office – would be reuniting with
Danny DeVito for a sequel to their 1988 comedy
Twins.
In addition, Eddie Murphy would be joining the duo to play the pair's long-lost triplet. Original director
Ivan Reitman was reportedly on board as a producer.
At The Expendables 2 panel for the currently-running Comic-Con, however, the action star told the crowd that he's definitely on board for a sequel to his hit comedy Twins.
Here's what Arnie said:
I can tell you that I have been interested in doing a sequel for many years, called maybe ‘Triplets'. So I think that we have moved it along, and Ivan Reitman has shown interest again in being involved in the project, Universal Studios has been very excited about it. So we are now looking for a great writer to write the sequel, and I'm looking forward to actually doing it, because I think it would be hilarious.
In my opinion, being involved in project doesn't mean that Reitman is interested in actually helming the sequel, so, original director is on board only as a producer, which I'll assume is what Schwarzenegger meant by his comments.
Since they are looking for a writer I'm not sure whether Murphy is still planned for inclusion.
Stay tuned.
