Anton Yelchin and
Dakota Johnson are set to star in an upcoming modern-day adaptation of Shakespeare's well-known play
Cymbeline. They will join previously announced
Ethan Hawke,
Ed Harris and
Milla Jovovich who are already set to star in this so-called fresh take on a universal story of love, betrayal and revenge. Head inside to find more details…
So, at this moment we know that
Michael Almereyda will direct the whole thing from his own script which is said to be in the vein of
Sons of Anarchy and in the style of
Romeo + Juliet.
In other words,
Cymbeline will show us an epic battle between dirty cops and a drug dealing biker gang set in a corruption-riddled 21st century America.
As for the above mentioned cast, Yelchin comes on board to play a guy named Cloten, the son of the Queen (played by Jovovich) by a former husband.
Johnson, on the other hand will star as Imogen, the daughter of King Cymbeline (played by Harris) from a previous marriage.
Yep, I know – this already sounds like a real mess, but I guess we'll soon have more updates to share, 'cause we've just learned that Cymbeline is set to commence shooting next week in New York.
Let us also add that Anthony Katagas will produce the movie together with Michael Benaroya, while Ben Sachs of
Benaroya Pictures will executive produce.
Stay tuned!
