Daisy Ridley's Hollywood journey is soon going to be marked with a blockbuster of event. The brilliant actress, who firstly came to light for the audience worldwide as Rey in the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, will receive the Hollywood Rising Star Award at the 50th anniversary of the Deauville Film Festival. This award acknowledges her contributions to the movie industry and the potential for future success, joining the list of other distinguished winners such as Emilia Clarke, Ana de Armas, and Robert Pattinson.

This has not been a smooth ride in the Hollywood industry for Ridley but an amazing story nevertheless. After her breakthrough in “Star Wars: In the film “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (2015), Ridley demonstrated that she could transcend the science fiction action movie queen label. She proved herself in the multi-star production of Kenneth Branagh's “Murder on the Orient Express” (2017) with Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz. Her devotion to varied parts persisted with successful indie films such as “Ophelia” (2018) and the more recent “Sometimes I Think About Dying” (2023) by Rachel Lambert.

However it is quite surprising that Ridley has not been free from some problems during her career despite her successes. During an interview with Women's Health magazine, she disclosed that she was diagnosed with Graves' disease in September 2023, a disease that has not slowed her drive toward acting. This was enlightening and provides another level of appreciation for her strength and commitment to her work.

The Deauville Film Festival which identifies, rewards and celebrates the best of American films could not have selected a more deserving candidate. When Ridley takes the stage to accept the Hollywood Rising Star Award, it's apparent that the actress's stardom is set to skyrocket. Her versatility coupled with her ability to jump in and out of at least two completely different leagues of filmmaking within her career instantly places her as one of the most captivating performers of her generation.

The future appears to be sunny for Daisy Ridley, as well as her previous performances and future projects. In this context, Ridley is not only one of the most popular stars, but also an actress who is willing to develop her acting abilities. Her recent achievement at Deauville is well deserved and this makes it another steppingstone to what is expected to be a very rewarding career.
