Diana, the eponymous biopic starring
Naomi Watts as the late Princess of Wales has just been picked up for US distribution after it was screened at Cannes and with the news comes irst official photo of the actress as the People's Princess.
The working title of
Caught in Flight has been renamed
Diana back in July when we saw several unofficial shots of Watts in princess mode.
Olivier Hirschbiegel (Downfall) directed the film from a script by
Steven Jeffreys about the late royal's final years when Di got involved in a campaign against landmines as well as a private love affair with a Pakistani heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan (
Naveen Andrews).
Canadian actor
Cas Anvar will portray Diana's better known lover, Egyptian millionaire Dodi Al-Fayed, who died alongside her in fatal Paris car crash on August 31st, 1997.
A release date has yet to be revealed, but it will likely hit theaters at the end of the year in order to be eligible for the Oscars.
